1902-P VAM-4 Doubled Ear & Profile, 2 Olive Reverse

Discovered by Lewis Rosenbaum, June 1977.
This coin is a Top 100 Morgan VAM.
4(revised) III24 · C4/C3g (Doubled Ear & Profile, 2 Olive Reverse) ( ? ) I-4 R-5
Obverse III24– Ear strongly doubled at right outside and left inside. Hairline doubled just above ear and Liberty head profile doubled along nose, lips and chin.
Reverse C4/C3g– Extra olive to right of olive connected to olive branch. Doubling at base of all three olive leaf clusters, top of arrow feathers, back of lower arrow head, and right side of eagle’s nostril and eye.

1. This is a surprisingly hard VAM to find, especially in higher grades. The doubling is less evident than some other doubled ears but it is visible on worn coins.

Below is a photo of a VAM 4 in lower grade (VF25 PCGS) which shows how readily visible the doubling is even in lower grades. It also illustrates that perhaps the most recognizeable doubling is at the top of the ear (doubling of the hairline) rather than at the bottom. (At least this is the feature that stands out most to me.)
Note the doubled eyelid as well.

I'll put on the page the reverse of this coin since the obverse photo is slightly out of focus.
