This coin is a WOW! Morgan VAM.
1G III2 1 - C3a (Crumbled Reverse Letters) (181) I-2 R-7
Reverse C3a -- Die chips around letters of TED STATES OF AMER, In God We Trust, and top edges of wings.
1- Leroy Van Allen commented that while the VAM-1G "has normal obverse and reverse dies", the reverse has "severe die chips wear" around edges of upper legend & motto, and wings tops. Van Allen went on to remark, "Mint used reverse die too long!".
2- The VAM-1G is one of only two 1888-O VAMs with an R-7 rarity rating, the other being the VAM-7A.
3- See VAM-31 as well
4- VAM 31 and 1G are the same marriage, but may be different die stages of the obverse. They share identical date positions and both have the tell tale threadlike impression at the top of the ear - vampicker
