1879-S VAM-66 PAF Reverse, Doubled 187, Die Rust Dots on Wing Next to Leg

This is a Reverse of '78 (PAF) coin and a Top 100* VAM variety.
66 III2 35 ∙ B2a (PAF Reverse, Doubled 187, Die Rust Dots on Wing Next to Leg) (184) I-4 R-7
Obverse III2 35 – Doubled 187 with slightly doubled 1 at left side of vertical shaft and right bottom of base, 8 at right inside of both loops and bottom outside and 7 at left side and lower edge of crossbar and left side of vertical shaft. Slightly doubled right stars toward rim. Slight counter-clash at lips and polished clash marks below cap ribbon in field. Over polished area around initial M and hair curls to right. Fine vertical polishing lines in fields. Die Markers - Vertical polishing lines in nostril and some heavy horizontal polishing lines in hair curl space behind neck.
Reverse B2a – PAF reverse of B2 type with small III S mint mark. R in Trust not broken. Vertical polishing lines in fields with polished feather between eagle's right wing and leg. Die state between VAMs 56 & 23.
1. Few examples known. Appears to be between VAMs 4 and 23 in the reverse die progression. Further research is encouraged, particularly as more examples are found.
