Discovered by Steve Sabella, June 1979.
This coin is a Top 100 Morgan VAM and This coin is a Top 30 1878 Variety
198 II/I 17 · B2f (Doubled Date) (194) I-5 R-5
Obverse II/I 17 -
Reverse B2f -
1. Only a tiny hub defect remains above the top arrow feather for VAM-198. For VAM-115 the defect is larger and more triangular.
2. Doubled IBERTY in LIBERTY with left shift. Doubled NUM in UNUM and doubled date. All stars doubled. Tripled cotton blossoms,same Obverse as 1878-P VAM-115
3. Die overpolished with part of eagle's lower right wing missing. B2f reverse is found on VAMs 196, 197, and 198.
