1882-S VAM-5 Doubled 882, Die Gouge TF

Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, May 1967. Revised by Wali Motorwalla (scmemon) May 2014.
5 (revised) III2 5 - C3a (Doubled 882, Die Gouge TF) (186)
Obverse III2 5 - Doubled 882 with left 8 on right outside of both loops and slightly at lower of upper loop, right 8 doubled at top and top right of lower loop, and 2 at top right. 1 very slightly doubled below upper crossbar.
Die marker - Single diagonal short polishing line above upper hair curl on forehead.
Reverse C3a - Mint mark centered and upright. Die gouge at bottom of second tail feather from right.

Comments:

  1. This obverse shared with 1882-S VAM-5, 1882-S VAM-17, and 1882-S VAM-17A.
  2. The die gouges at tail feathers (also found 1882-S VAM-16) do not last long before disappearing.
