Seemingly impossible to find. If anyone has one to sell, trade, or knows of someone that has one I am very motivated to add to my PCGS registry.

Thought I would add I'm also looking for VAMs 188 and 222A in MS. I know they are out there!

Am fortunate to own 3/4 in MS; V86 is only XF-45. Got the 188 many years ago when 3 came in the market unexpectedly out of nowhere. At the time many of us were thinking there was a roll, but only the 3 were offered; mine is 62; other 2 are 63. Bidders at the time were wary; turned out to be a bargain; v85 found unattributed on. Great Collections auction; everyone else must have been asleep; no bidding war. Got for grey sheet. V222A got from a fellow 7 tf collector that largely got rid of his set; I was fortunate to add several top pop coins to my set including the 222A, which wasn’t cheap. V86 came from Brian; bought raw and definitely not cheap at the time. Bought maybe a year after discovery came to light. Maybe one of my best purchases ever; I really thought more would come to light, but only one every now and then; finest is AU-58, which resides in a top notch set. Funny thing about discovery coins - new hole to fill, but how rare and what to pay? Good luck on filling the holes; 4 tough coins for sure. 😎

As an afterthought, the finest known V86 was posted raw unattributed on and bought by a knowledgeable collector; you never know when an heir will put up grandpa’s coins for sale. Keep your chin up and when you least expect it something really good will come along!

I was a bidder on the 3 VAM-188's when they hit ebay. I was being cheap and lost out on all 3. Still regret not ponying up the cash. Best I've been able to find since is my AU55.

Iceman (John).. I've seen your 7TF set on PCGS. You have some fantastic coins in your set.

Am fortunate to own 3/4 in MS as well; all bought within the last two years. V86 in XF45. I would trade that plus much $$
if a MS were to be available.
V85 64DMPL acquired by a major trade deal involving 14 tough Vams from a fellow Vammer.
Surprisingly, we are still friends. lol.
V188 63. Bought an entire collection from an collector downsizing. Had to over pay for that one to get the deal done from a very sharp collector. V222A 62 came in that collection as well, I would love to upgrade when available.
Always buying Top pops, and meeting new friends.
Stay the course Mark.
Andy

I have a 222A in PCGS-58 and am glad to have it. Never seen a Mint State example offered for sale in a public venue.
When in doubt... don't.

Hey Mark, Don't give up looking! I picked all the ones you're looking for RAW off the Bay with the exception of the V85. Took a couple 4-5 diligent years but it did happen. I picked the V86 raw that ended up in PCGS AU58 for $75 buy it now, traded it to Ash for the V85 Discovery coin and some other assorted trinkets, kept the V86 hole filled with a PCGS G06. 222A Raw ended up in PCGS MS62. V188 raw went MS63 PCGS. Also picked another raw V188 that went MS61. I don't think I ever paid over $225 for any individual one.

Clayton and I had a gentleman's agreement and tried to keep track of each others feedback score on ebay and if we found something that looked like the other one was bidding on we would send each other a message to check if they had the bid on it, if the other had a bid we would step down and not cross bid the other one so we didn't run the price up needlessly. A lot of good stuff picked off the bay that way and in collectors hands now.

Always grateful for that gentleman's agreement; served us both well over the years. :) Yep, you never know what gets put up on eBay or for that matter on GC. Don't give up on Heritage, either; bought an unattributed 78-CC V19A PCGS MS 63 in their buy it now listing for common $$. Time and diligence and as Dr. Fey used to say, "knowledge is king." I have enjoyed this thread!

Obviously we all search the same places and get lucky every once in a while. Recently got an 8tf v5 in pcgs65 on heritage buy it now for under a grand. They are out there. But if both mark and others spot an 85 or 86, 8ts going to get expensive
