Wayne, just curious, can you show the date placement for a V16 and the new V28?

Sure. It will be a while. Need to go pickup hay. In the mean time if you go to the 1900-S VAM-8 page and scroll down to the last set of LFCP's the obverse is close to the one in the photo. The reverse is different (C4/C3) and is over polished.

Thanks Wayne. Just trying to make sense of the V16, V22 and now the V28/28A. It helps, kinda.

For sure. Throw in the possibility the obverse of VAM-8 having tentacles and it just adds to the mix.

Well, I have the obverse die of V28 at the end of a three die pair marriage string. I believe it started in a VNA die marriage. It was then removed and polished, which I believe caused the "date doubling" of the VAM-8, and tentacles (if the scratches thru the date are the tentacles you mention) and married with a different reverse die. The obverse die them went to what is called the VAM-28 now with a different reverse die.

Sound familiar? Of course, I have been wrong before.

Thanks Wayne. Since you are doing a die study, likely you will connect all the dots in this series. There is a LOT of stuff to be listed in the 1900-S series. Let me know if I can be of any help. But looks like you don't need it :(

There sure is. Will do Alan. With the price of the coins for this series It is going to take some time to complete.
