Re: Wow unbelievable
Been watching that too. HOLY WOW. Heritage and eBay are selling very well. After seeing the huge spike the last 4 weeks I decided to sell mine off. Listed some before I saw this post. I've been more focused on old Mopars lately. eBay for the slabbed up to AU and MS coins going to Heritage. Most coins I bought early were investments and will sit out the trend. Getting a few deals on empty holes in my date/mint set. Still look at some 78S coins on the bay. Always nice getting a sketti wings in PCGS 62 plastic for $78 and a 61 for $68. Happy New Year.

IMO
Nice 79-s R78 Coins have brought a premium for some time now. Almost all AU-MS coins that were nice brought premiums for the last few years that I can remember. As mentioned, in the last few months they have jumped enough for sellers and price guides to recognize. There have been more coins come to the market with opportunities to buy.
I think it is a fascinating coin with a great story. From the early days where there were only a few rolls known to finding a few bags in Redfields hoard.
Happy New Year!

It looks the value of the subject coin is all over the chart. I have a 79s, NGC MS 61, VSS VAM 43. What could I reasonably expect it to sell for, and how would you market it (auction, buy it now, etc)? I hope I'm not out of line asking questions in this thread. If I am, please send in the right direction. If I'm not, any opinions, advice, or comments will be greatly appreciated.

This is the “What’s it worth” forum, sp I think you’re ok.
It looks like a couple sold in October for around $600 and other coins have sold recently a little over $600. If someone really wanted that Vam, you may be able to get a little more.
I would expect the $600 ($540 after fees) or so for it on eBay buy it now or a obo and price a little higher.
Could also advertise here on the buy, sell, trade and perhaps save yourself and a buyer a little money that would otherwise go in to fees.
Others may chime in, but that’s my opinion.

By the way, there is a 79s vam 46 in a VSS wrapper currently up for auction on the bay (# 123574936335). Bidding is at $1.25. So we know they have a minimum value of $1.25, but I will keep an eye on it.

I have been watching the 1879 s rev 78 coins for a little while. Because I'm looking to get a ms63 at grey sheet price. Don't care what cam it is. But they are selling way over grey sheet price and the PCGS value. I will just wait I will get one some day.

Momma didn’t raise no dummies! I had a 62 and a 58 and sold both while they’re hot... had around $300 in the pair and got enough out of them to buy an 80cc in 64 and an 88s in 63, filling two spots in my ECD/SCD sets along the way.
I feel like a winner on “Barter Wars”!

Been watching the 79 s rev 78 since late Sept or early Oct of last year. Crazy increases in prices. Good time take a profit or buy more? Wish I had the magic crystal ball!
Re: Wow unbelievable
The one I described below went for $93+. Was it a good deal, or did it go low because it was ungraded?

I desire very little. But what I desire consumes me !!
That is the VAMmer to a "T"
That's all that needs to be said for this Variety. I got into VAMs with the 79R78s.
I paid above on many for that time period. I had no regrets then or now.
Always thought they were sleepers. as well as the Variety that consumed me.
