Post by Namvet69 » Sun Dec 27, 2020 8:48 pm

This coin has lots going on. The broken r is obvious, dbl D below mm, lots of ridb in hair and left leaves. Could LIBERTY be dbld?

we just had a discussion abou this same vam. buy a 1878s book and learn all of the subtle nuances of attributing them. there are a number of 78s vams that do not exist(at least many of us here haver seen a real one in the wild).

I'd say 46A like my recent post ( 1878S VAM-2 does EXIST ) = NOT. My dream was crushed, thank you vampicker. I'd say your coin is a higher grade than mine. Superb close up photo's.

Oh yeah, VAM 46A for sure, also noticed the broken fourth star. Thanks all for the guidance. Makes studying VAMs more fulfilling. Peace Roy
