78s with weird wings

I have a 78s and some spots on the wongs look funky

You've got a short nock reverse. If you go to the 1878-s listing page, there is a hyperlink to the short nock reverse attribution page. Never be afraid to dig into the links. Sometimes you're one click away from the list you are searching for :)

Your r in trust is intact but i can't make out the stars on the obverse.

Use this list and check your star. You can narrow it down to a small handful to look at this way.

One of your pictures looks like possible pmd in the exact spot as the breast chip... Can you take a focused pic dead center of the chicken chest for me? Let's Colombo this thing...

I'll try to hunt for markers in your photos, but if that's as clear as it gets, i hate to say the only way you might figure this one out is in hand.

Hopefully someone that knows what they are doing with 78-s will come along and notice something. With this series i just go by the attribution charts and process of elimination...

In one of your photos it looks like you have a disconnected leaf to the left of the bow on the reverse. I can't see obvious pitting, but can you check 1B? It might be the photos...

Oh I'm not saying you're incorrect. I literally know almost nothing about these to say "yes" based on any one photo though. Need a much better VAM'er than I for that one :lol:
