The Flip Fliped

Going through a dealers stock would you have bothered to flip this one over and check out the reverse? Any idea what VAM it is?

Okay, here is a hint. It is not a 7 tailfeather as shown on the 2 x 2 flip.

No, I can see were you were coming from though. That is not a clash mark at Liberty's neck. It is not a 7TF or A 7/8 TF.

VAM-23 seems like a good guess.

The ear also resembles VAM-9/14/14.15 obverse.

Not a VAM 23 that could easily been mistaken for a 7TF. Mark you are red hot on the trail.

Unbelievable that a dealer could mistake an 1878 8tf VAM 9 (1st die pair) for a 7tf. They are becoming increasingly tough to find in the wild. Well maybe not for Chris just the rest of us. I do feel fortunate about the mislabeled 2x2. I think it may have kept it off of others radar long enough for me to stumble upon it.
