1878 VAM 14.4A
Anybody have any idea what a MS 1878 VAM 14.4A goes for? I have had this coin for a few months now but haven't found any recorded sales. There are couple of 14.4's that sold on Ebay, would the 14.4A value be similar?
Re: 1878 VAM 14.4A
Go by the 14.4 sales information. The VAM-2A obverse was paired with a different reverse making the 14.4/A. So unless a very LDS shows up that has the obverse clashing removed, all 14.4s are really 14.4As. PCGS labels all 14.4As as 14.4. So again, the 14.4 sales information really reflects the sales information of the 14.4As.

A friend and I were asking the same. He referred me to G/C. They sold a MS62 for $185.00 about a year ago.

Wow, that surprises me. They don't seem to be that common. The two VAM 14.4's that sold on e-bay were both MS 62''s. An NGC sold for $350 and a PCGS for $450.

Sold a nice NGC MS63 14.4A (labeled as 14.4) for $525 a couple of years ago on eBay. Would imagine the same coin today would bring around $400+.
