1887-O VAM 28

Post by Dirtdoctor » Sun Oct 06, 2019 3:24 pm

Just realized, while double checking VAM assignments, that my 1887-O has clear 1, first 8, and 7 in the denticles. Appears to be VAM 28. It had been given MS61 by ANACS but I cut it out of holder to display in collection. Flat ear but not many scuffs. I cannot find any sale prices of the coin, but it appears to be I4 R5 rating, and apparently is fairly rare. Any suggestions on value?

Currently only about 3 in SSDC registry with 1 in ms 61
Does not mean its worth a premium, as no particular collector interest
So my best guess is NO PREMIUM over regular price sheets values
Now a vam 30A is cool, carries premium and a lot in SSDC registry including
a monster ms65 top pop

Dennis H keeps prices but my guess is -not much record due to no interest
IMHO only

I have zero "sold as attributed" entries in my database for that VAM, which tells me (at least more loudly than anything else) that there is little or no interest, demand, or premium for it.
When in doubt... don't.

Thanks...bummer. With the I4 interest I thought it might have some premium. Still fits my collection, and I like that the digits show so clearly in the denticles, so I'm good. Thanks very much for your feedback!
