Last Acquisition for 2018

Post by Raybob15239 » Fri Dec 28, 2018 6:23 pm

I saw a similar thread over at Collectors Universe and figured that one over here would be more interesting (at least to me). What was your last VAM acquisition for 2018?

Mine was a 23P VAM 1A (have to figure out if it's 1A1 or 1A2) that I grabbed on eBay for $40. I haven't had a chance to take any pictures yet, so here's the seller's pic.

Nice! Impossible to tell the grade from the picture -- somewhere between AU55 and MS65. My last VAM for 2018 was a 78 VAM 34. I think I posted it here earlier.

This is my last purchase, a cherrypicked 1885-CC VAM 4 in an old green 7-digit PCGS holder. Semi-PL, dazzling lustre, and original as can be. Care to guess the grade?

My last will probably be a hopeful (odds against) 80p v8 obv toner that's on its way. Those damn lines in the wing are like phantom E's to me when searching pics but I WILL cherry one eventually. It's a must have VAM for me as I'm sure all who know me personally can understand why

My last one is actually a couple as well. Took my Christmas bonus and invested in an 1888-S VAM-3a1 in an NGC 63 holder that a buddy turned me loose on and also got an old ANACS MS 64 1880-CC VAM-3a. The pair arrived today and bumped my ECD and SCD registry sets into the top 5!:-)
Also "picked" me my first AR this year, yup, Christmas bonuses have been REEEEAAAL nice the last three years since they made them performance-based instead of all flat amounts!

Oh, also picked a 21 Peace and a nice XF O/CC v11(a?) from a local dealer's junk bucket a couple days ago!
So, all things considered, I prolly acquired as many VAMs in the past week as I have in the previous 6-8 months!
I go totally NUTS for WOW! VAMs!! Or is that from WOW! VAMs?

I have a GREAT one. :P
A friend here sent me a coin that he found. He knew it will become a new DC, but sent it to me anyway.
So next year when LVA opens back up for submissions, I will be mailing this coin off.

Thank You :!:

And Rob,
I love the 88-S VAM-3A1. You Suck

The very last purchase of 2018 was a steal! 10% EBAY bucks day and an un-attributed 1878-CC VAM 13 in NGC MS 63 plastic with free shipping and an attractive BIN price. :D

I'll play. A 1897-O VNA with hopefully a break above Liberty's cap with displaced fields.

My last picks for the year were a '91-O VAM 1D and another '88-P VAM 11A.

Almost forgot about an 1898-O that I don't have in hand yet but I think it may be a VAM 4. I finally found one that'll fit in my Dansco album.

1921 S V19? Clashed Reverse/Obverse and eroded obverse.
Not to sure about the 19 attribution

Update: Just bought a VF 93-C VAM 4. Not a typo. Won't have it until 2019, though.
