1922 Peace Dollar variety?
Hi, I checked through the list of 1922 VAMs and did not see anything that quite matches this, so wondering if anyone might be able to help. There's a lot going on on the reverse of this 1922-P, but there is a mark just above the shorter ray that runs between the two L's in DOLLAR that stands out enough that hopefully you can see it in spite of all the toning. It does not appear to be post mint damage, and this may just be a figment of my imagination, but I have a vague sense that I've seen this before on a 1922-P. Does anyone have any insight as to whether this is a recognized variety, possibly a struck-through error, or...?
Thanks!
Thanks!

@Namvet69 no, I didn't check that, but it looks like I should have!
Yes, that appears to be exactly what it is. Thank you!

I was hoping for a stronger spike length at the jaw/neck area. ..kenny

Interesting reverse color.

Curious to know how this coin was stored, in folder or paper envelope or what? Thanks. Roy

Yes, the toning on the reverse is quite striking -- really something else! It was stored in one of those old type coin frames that are like a picture frame with glass on the front, a fake wood grain around the coins and some sort of blue paper backing between the coins and the cardboard slide on the back. That blue paper has some texture to it, and I'm guessing that's why the toning is so speckled. As far as I know the coin had probably been in that frame since the mid-70's.
Most of the silver coins in the set had toned in there, but oddly the Peace dollar developed the most attractive toning by far, which is pretty unusual if my experience with Peace dollars is any indication. On the other hand, coins that typically tone nicely, like the Mercury dime and Washington quarter, ended up with lots of tiny dark spots on the reverse rather than attractive color. The Morgan that was next to the Peace dollar fared pretty well, but has more subdued pastel colors.

For anyone who's interested, here's a different photo of the reverse, not as crisp but it shows more of the color in one shot.
