1902-O study dollar?
1902-O study dollar?
Didn't find any major markers on this beauty but I did read that @LateDateMorganGuy would like to be notified. I've had this 1902-O since around 1966. It's been in hiding too long. There is a die crack from the bottom right neck edge to above the 1. Is this an early VAM-45? Peace Roy

With little to go on, try checking the crack finders. There is always a PUP or two to help nail these buggers down, just maybe doesn't jump out at you. Try the crack finders first before we go off the deep end with this one.
Re: 1902-O study dollar?
@LateDateMorganGuy thanks, so l have looked closed and found several notable markers. Profile dbling, cud or ? above the Y, dbling in the bow and ribbon, die crack or cud on wreath leaf. I am enjoying this.

Re: 1902-O study dollar?
You only saw one crack from the neck over the top of the 1 in the date for near date Morgan's?
Re: 1902-O study dollar?
Alan,
That crack finder is great. Thanks for letting us in on all of your work.
It only took a minute on the crack finder to pick it out after I saw the close up of the date.

Thanks for the compliment Lee. I spent too many years of my life and retirement fund to put those together

Re: 1902-O study dollar?
@LateDateMorganGuy yes only that one, the rest of the fields are very clean and smooth. Can you confirm a 45 or ? Thanks being here. Roy

Oh I don't know. Let's see a straight on shot of eagle's left wing tip to denticles, below eagle's lower tail feathers, and Liberty's hair below LIB. Let's see what those tell us. But straight on photos please, no angles. While to are at it, let's see a straight on shot of eagle's right wing tip and the D of United.
Re: 1902-O study dollar?
@LateDateMorganGuy all straight on pics as requested. The suspense is palpable. I'm making popcorn. Roy

Re: 1902-O study dollar?
From here it looks like VAM-44. Probably to LDS to be a VAM-44B. Wonder if there is a die gouge on eagle's chest?
Re: 1902-O study dollar?
@LateDateMorganGuy Nope, the chest doesn't have that gouge or any similar marker. I'm gonna go look at 44 and 44B.

Re: 1902-O study dollar?
The gouge shows up on LDS specimens. Can't tell what die state your coin is in. But I am 98% sure that coin is a V44.
Re: 1902-O study dollar?
Look carefully for these markers for me, if you don't mind boss...
