Just in time for Xmas!

Post by DHalladay » Thu Dec 24, 2020 10:34 pm

Today's mail brought the best Xmas present for my wife and me: A Deed of Reconveyance on our house. It is paid off and it is all ours now.
When in doubt... don't.

I can relate to that. We celebrated "independence day" on July 3, making our last house payment. Congrats, it's a good feeling of accomplishment. I remember the 1st house payment years ago. I think the principal we paid maybe bought a doorknob. Of course, we had the 1st time home buyers "special" interest rate of 12 and 3/4 %.

Congrats that is a good feeling I bet. Thanks to covid and the low interest rates we refinanced in May to 15 years and our payment barely went up.

Congrats! My property taxes are more than my mortgage payment, so when I pay ours off in a couple years, I won't notice much. We basically rent our houses from the government here.

Now you can mortgage it and buy the coin you always wanted.

I paid off my mortgage 12 years ago, retired 9 years ago after I was totally debt free and had money in the bank with my SS & pension coming in. I now use my "line of credit" to buy any thing expensive and pay it back at my pace way under what a credit card company charges. One of the only few perks in life when you get older. Give me time, I'll think of more.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Years everyone.

Dave

Not quite "ALL YOURS" as now you get to continue to pay rent to the government via property taxes. As Messydesk stated, and I share his comment, we rent our houses from the government..

My tax accountant told my before you draw on your accounts get out of California . Find a new states.

I found TEXAS .. Silver dollars and guns are fine with Texas .. No income tax . we have fed tax and county property tax .
