Just received my latest package from LVA in the mail today. I’ll cover the contents of the package in another day or two in another topic. In this post I just wanted to bring folks up to date on how LVA is doing. LVA is going though difficult times right now. Since moving into assisted living this year he has had to put down his dog (Shih Tzu) of 11 years (June) because of health problems. In addition, because of advancing Alzheimer’s disease, his wife (Marilyn) was moved to the Health Care ward (Memory care) on September 23rd and after 34 years of marriage he is having a hard time living alone. Having a mother in-law with dementia my wife and I fully understand what LVA is going though. When the mind is at or almost at the point of no return it is a life changing event. That’s when prayer and faith really come into play. Finally, LVA can only talk to his wife via cell phone at her room window because of COVID19 restrictions.

Wow. I knew things were rough and that Marilyn had specific health issues, but wasn't aware that Alzheimer's was now one of them, too. Sad news. Thanks for sharing.

So sorry to hear the news. I'm familiar with Alzheimer’s and know how difficult things can get when that illness hits. Thanks for the update, Wayne.

Having a 92 year old mother with dementia and putting two lifetime friends of 17 years (my dogs) down, I am familiar with the difficulties. So sorry to hear LVA is having to go through these trying times. Getting old is no picnic.

LVA's wife (Marilyn) is 88 and LVA is 86. LVA is keeping busy and his mind focused on examining coins. It's a rough time for him.

In his letter to me, he expressed that some of the more interesting varieties he has seen over the past few months have served as a welcome distraction.
