I was the high bidder until just under a minute from the end. Getting stomped is easier to take than a single increment sniper shot.

Just sent you the link in email. Guess that was unnecessary.

When I chased such stuff in the past, I always nuke bid it at the end. Almost always won but cost A LOT.

One of several 8tf holes; bidding exceeded budget early Sun. Was shocked at the hammer price; hey, rare VAMs are alive and well!

Yeah, I bid what I thought was competitive money for the grade. Couple of people wanted it far more than I did.

Wow! Way north of my pre-auction estimate.

– I felt that less than $6,000 was pretty much impossible.
– I thought $7,000 would have been strong, but not surprising.
– $8,000+ for a really nice, wholesome looking XF40 puts an exclamation point on how few 14.11s ever come up for sale, and how many people are anxious to own one.

I raised the high bid at one point by $1,000... but was high for less than 30 minutes.

Congratulations to the new owner!

I was in there at the at a couple grand less. I was already higher than my max. Glad to see strong prices. On to the next auction.

It really does not seem too far out of line for that rare a coin that is in the Top 100 set, the 8TF set ... They really are a bugger to find. IMHO

I used to own a vf25 pcgs way back and sold it for 7500.00.
I then had a xf 45 and sold it for 8250.00 as I remember.
I now have a ms 64 CAC that I bought of heritage in ngc 64 cac holder.
Not cheap but tough to even find one.
Keep up the hunt.

Thanks for the info , So the auction price was in line with the History of the
prices . I would seem that the Lower grades are still very close to the higher grades in price . A NGC MS60 VAM14.11 went for 9 K just recently this month .
So the difference in a XF45 vs MS60 is quite minimal at around a $750 jump .
Of course this is just looking at the prices realized and looking for a trend . LOL

Hated the way that 60 looked or I would have bought it a couple of months ago

YEP , I like toning Big time , So that was a real Plus for me .
Its all in the eye of the beholder . And I thought I got a real good buy price on it .
9K on a offer was the price . I really think in might bump to a higher grade . Ands its a Semi PL on both sides . I will be sending it off to PCGS for a crossover and keep you posted on the status . Im a sucker for Mottled toning !!! It took me awhile to
pull the trigger also , So I really thought about this for a bit .
