ANACS Getting tough
ANACS Getting tough
1899 o vam 11a EDS was a 64 ngc . This coin is a easy MS-65 it came back MS-64 with a note kept out of higher grade due to hairlines . Coin has a few minor but to me this would of kept it at a 65.
also sent in a 1886 o vam 1a2 it is graded AU-58 from Icg . to me it is borderline 58 or upper end 55 with pretty much full luster and minimal wear . I put a minimum grade crossover as 55 and they did not grade said they would of graded it AU-53. this actually I am pretty shocked over as this is about as close to a slider as I have seen.
someone on another coin forum had the same luck with a Carson City Morgan grading 2 grades under they thought.
Maybe someone there was just having a bad day
Minus the attribution I basically a waste of money.

Re: ANACS Getting tough
ANACS is the strictest on grades IMO. I personally would never send any other TPG
graded coins in for crossover. It works the other way around... Buy ANACS grade coins and send them
to PCGS or NGC for an upgrade!

And ANACS is not getting tough, they always have been...

I've seen quite a few questionable ones the other way as well.VamHelsing wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 1:07 amAnd ANACS is not getting tough, they always have been...

Yeah, ANACS has been tough since they went to the yellow labels. My rule is if you’re looking to market a coin send it to the other guys for a “commercial grade”, but if it’s for your own collection and you wanna KNOW the coin earned the grade ANACS is the only choice. BTW, I’ll try to get you some pics this weekend Jason...

Re: ANACS Getting tough
without seeing it in hand it looks undergraded but if they said there were hairlines, then that is why. i recently had a number cross over to pcgs, and several more that were shot down. i had a mess of NCG's shot down for cross to pcgs too but when i cracked them out and sent them in raw-they all came back the same grade that they were in the ngc holders. the games....

So when I decide to sell my coins I need to have all of them reslabbed if in a ANACS holder?impairedsquirrel wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 4:41 pmYeah, ANACS has been tough since they went to the yellow labels. Every body knows sending a coin to ANY third party is a gamble and good luck trying to figure them out.
Point in case my 1884 P DMPL. cracked out of a NGC DMPL holder. Three trips to PCGS, PL, trip back to NGC, PL. Tried ANACS DMPL. That's why you collect lowballs rodent. If they over grade the coin might be better in the long run.
Re: ANACS Getting tough
Anacs is the best TPG overall !!!!!
Never submit already slabbed coins for crossover to any TPG
as they all discriminate against other TPG
Break & submit raw for honest results
Anacs is IMHO made major mistakes by ultra conservative grading
especially stingy with designating PL/DMPL.
I know this is true as i buy select mirror coins in Anacs, break out
and submit to PCGS with very consistent good results. So i love
the challenge of picking Anacs PL slabs that look DMPL. Its fun
to see a Anacs Pl go into a PCGS DMPL, and the financial gain is
huge. So i take a otherwise negative into a huge positive
I now refrain from submitting potential PL/DMPL morgans to Anacs
as it kills my equity, of which i wont allow
Its all in the experience gained by simply staying alert
