80s... v7/94 obv... NOT Rev of either?... Leroy?

Post by CascadeChris » Wed Sep 23, 2020 3:54 pm

Can someone confirm please? Gonna try to get a Leroy package out soon and just came across this girl. Add her or nah?... From what I'm seeing this obv is only known with the v7 & v94 pairing. Well this definitely ain't the s/s v7 with acid leaves and it the mm on this one looks set further to the left than the v94 mm.

Leroy, yea or nea?... Thx!

That's the original VAM 7. The revision eliminating VAM 36 has always been questionable at best in my opinion. If you send it in you'll likely end up with a VAM 94 attribution. Without a comprehensive and simultaneous study, this sort of thing will continue ad nauseam

Thought that might be the case but it doesn't have the bold s/s RPM though JR? 🤔.. Im unfamiliar with the v36/7 situation.

And agreed on second half. Thats a primary reason I haven't sent him a package in over a year. Aside the "must send to Leroy phase" weraing off a couple years ago. I've been too busy with the never-stop nature of what I do now with little time for VAMming aside scanning for premium ones as part of my general job description.

I thought the lockdowns would maybe give me some time to dig back in a little with some extracurricular edu VAMming but I've been busier than ever with collectors being stuck at home with shops & shows generally no-go's and a general lack of fresh material circulating unless you have found other sources to draw from as a dealer. Its been go-go-go for me since March. 😣

Now in fairness, that revision that eliminated the old VAM 36 (what we now have listed as 7) was an attempt to clean up a listing - it just happened to be wrong.

Nea.
I would first use 'Variety Slabbing Service' and get their opinion on how to proceed with your coin. IMO. That's what I would If I had any doubt. It maybe would help with pressure on you and Leroy.

Thanks for the subtle reminder to dust her off JR. The book is rarely my first -or second, in most cases- go-to. But it should be. I'd bet I'm not the only one with that predilection, either 😔

Whenever something seems fishy, I always go to the VAM book and try and trace the history of a listing back to it or forward from it through the supplements. It's hard for someone to add bad information into either of those.
