Very tough planchet error type in silver dollars !! Thanks for sharing.. I have never seen a tapered planchet Morgan dollar. ANACS graded a 1922 Peace dollar with a tapered planchet error (noted on slab) AU 58 for me about ten years ago. My specimen exhibits missing metal divot on reverse at 8:00 - 9:00 which caused most of the letter O (ONE)to be MIA without design rim. Obverse shows weak strike details on I (LIBERTY) and design rim. Supposedly, silver dollar tapered planchets originate from the end of the sheet that is purposely tapered in order to facilitate feeding into the blanking press.
