Hi all, new member here. I have been collecting Morgan dollar's for some time now, more seriously for the last 7-8 months and have a YouTube channel were I have documented my progress, and right now I have over 50 Morgans with 39 unique dates out of 104 goal.
Recently discovered the world of VAM varieties, found a top 100 a a few others.I have come across this 1897P which I have shown to who I would say is very much an expert in VAM's. He says it is a new die pair and I cannot find the example on this website. He has circled a few spots to look at and I have taken the liberty of using my digital microscope to get a closer look and circled a few bits myself, cheers everyone, thank you for looking.

More pictures available upon request, seems to be a die crack, going clockwise from outside edge of lettering "ERICA *" all the way to the left star of "ONE DOLLAR"

Welcome to VW. :D
I do not believe that this is a new die pair. There is a clashed version of VAM-10 that looks like a match. Look at the first LFCP (Large Full Coin Photo) and click on the right arrow above the LFCP. This will show you the reverse that matches you clash marks and cracks through the letters.

@lj@ljs123 They should change the title to include "Bearded Eagle" since it says the 1 can be invisible, easy identifiable that way and sounds way cooler!

The doubling is not visible in the "1" and the "N" in "ONE" has no pitting, VAM-10 is accurate

The official titles and descriptions come from Leroy Van Allen. Those are preserved verbatim, as they specify the variety. The section on each page with additional comments does include "Bearded Eagle." Where that becomes quite useful is in searching the wiki. If you search for "1897-P" and "Bearded Eagle" (both in quotes) on the wiki, the search result shows the 97 VAM 10 page. It may take a little while to learn what search terms to use, but a lot of the language describing what you see has become rather standardized. You could search for "1897-P" and bearded and that would work equally well.
