When President Harding saw the original model for the obverse his only objection was about the "apple cheek" of Liberty. Clearly, this was not changed for 1921 coins. Few coins show this part of the design because there was not enough metal to flow into all of the die recesses at the maximum safe pressure available.
For reference purposes, collectors should be aware that many 1921 proofs do not show a clear "apple cheek." Further, there are several sandblast pieces in slabs labeled "proof" which are clearly NOT products of a medal press.

Thank you for the excellent work, and for posting it here. I expect that at some point the grading services will acknowledge the well struck coins, as they do with "Full Head" Standing Liberty quarters and 6-step Jefferson nickels.
