OT - a slow descent into madness

Post by vampicker » Sun Feb 02, 2020 1:32 pm

Just thought I would share what is going on at the moment. I got a new desk so I have to rearrange my office. I know, it's a gold plated problem, but if you can picture the scene I have several overflowing book shelves and in the new configuration one of them has to go. I have been through far worse in my life including just this weekend, but I have concluded that my personal hell is carrying hundreds of books I only vaguely care about but for some reason have owned for years up and down stairs.

This is what it looks like at the moment. It may have some illusion of being orderly but it is not....

Or as some would call it, "leg day."

Sounds like it's time to just buy a bigger, single-story, house with a den/office larger than the master.. Obviously 😎

Is the desk switcheroo out of vanity or efficiency? If the latter all will be right with life and you'll get through it with hope, if the former it could be Hell On [no]Wheels for the entirety of the move.

Suggestion #1 - Donate the dusty, rarely used books to the ANA YN auction held during the summer seminar. They will find appreciative new owners through your generosity.

Suggestion #2 - Doing #1 will allow you to replace the stegosaurus model with a mature allosaurus or possibly an apatosaurus louisae.

:)

Roger, that's not a bad idea. I've been eyeballing a replica of a tyrannosaurid skull and losing a full bookshelf full of books might actually make that OK.

..and Bender always helps, even when he doesn't intend to

Ouch. Caught in the middle. Dammned if you dont and dont really want to. A push through it situation.. I should have assumed if anyone could actually "wear out" a desk in a single lifetime it'd be you tho. How many presidents have used the Resolute? ..And that things still going strong. What does that tell all of you about JR! ;) :o

And tell me the Trex skull things isnt a joke! 😎

In this industry you are one gifted individual to be able to work from home, even though you do
attend a bunch of shows. Myself always self employed was a great gift , as i cant imagine ever
punching a time clock or constantly answering to some asshole boss. Good for you JR

My office is a war zone with a couple thousand Morgans cluttered around at all times.
Sometimes i get burned out and put them away, but then i start again as i get motivated.
The older i get the more i try to lessen my Coin time but it work very good over time (hooked)

I guess I don't get it. Compared to my office this is an immaculate work space. I will not be posting any pictures.

Newt Gingrich had one in his office when he was Speaker. I'll probably put some dinosaur art in my office when I remodel it. My daughter is a paleontologist, after all.

IIRC Nicholas Cage has/had one. Think he might have had to sell it when he was going through financial difficulties a while back, if so maybe he bought it back? Or another, or maybe not at all.
