And check 81-O VAM 78 against VAM 72. No pictures on the page, but there is one of the wing-neck gap on the VAM 20 page. I have some pictures of VAM 72 somewhere, but won't be able to get to them until tonight at the earliest. The description of the obverse sounds like what you show.
Edit: Strike that. Check VAM 64.

The plate with the tail feather die scratch almost looks like there are denticle impressions too.
Re: Leroy's Reply Dec. 2019
With this additional information, I will be sending both the 1879-S and the 1881-O back to Leroy after he’s finish with the updates for 2019.
The 1879-S does appear to be VAM-85. The only thing I see different on my example, which I cannot tell by the VAM-85 page is a couple long scratches on the left wing and right wing has 4 short scratches on the inside of the 7th outside feather.
On the 1881-O VAM-78 may be VAM-72, but that’s not for me to decided. On my example there is doubling of UNUM on the bottom inside toward rim. On the reverse the right wing has been over polished, and it does not have the Die Marker-Polishing lines in wing-neck gap or the fine pitting on eagle. There is also, on the right side of the upper TF has 5 small scratches between the upper inside right leg and the tail feathers. Since it will be about four or five months, before I can send them back too Leroy. I will send it to Hawkeye to examine after the Christmas holiday, before I send it back to Leroy.
I am still unable to take detailed images.
Thank you for bring this to my attention, and I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused.
