Back from LVA - a 21P kill, 21P reassign, and 83P revision

Post by weth » Mon Oct 28, 2019 6:27 pm

Hi gang,

I just got back a small parcel from Sydney Ohio, and am pretty pleased with the results. I had three issues to present and am grateful that LVA saw things the same way that I did:

1) I had submitted an 1883P variety to LVA in 2014, in both unclashed and single-clash stages. LVA didn’t see anything noteworthy, so he called it another VAM 1, which I called VAM 1 Weth Die 3. The following year, I found a double-clashed example with a much stronger second clash which had clear letter transfer. That became VAM 1G. But that discovery example was really beat up (it graded out at AU Details) and I recently found a nice MS65 example. So I sent that in with this submission, and got a few minor revisions to the description to note the full extent of the clash.

2) I procured a white-label ANACS example of the 1921P VAM 6 some time ago. But seeing as it didn’t really match the printed VAM 6 description, I sent it in to LVA back in 2013; he verified that it was, indeed, a VAM 6. Flash forward to earlier this year – Dennis was seeking examples for his 21P set, and I had a spare example that matched my VAM 6. But upon receiving it, Dennis proclaimed “That’s not a VAM 6 – it’s a VAM 91!”. And he was right. So I sent in this original ANACS VAM 6 along with a VSS-attributed VAM 91 to confirm that they were duplicate listings. The 1921P VAM 91 is now eliminated.

3) I saw on the pages that someone observed that 1921P VAM 1i and VAM 1AE were likely different stages of the same die. I had a VSS VAM 1i, and asked around if anyone had a VAM 1AE. fogie generously provided his example, so I sent them both in. LVA agreed that the 1i is a late die state of the 1AE, so now 1i shall be known as VAM 1AE2.

TL:DR version

1) 1883P VAM 1G updated to note additional clash features.
2) 1921P VAM 91 is eliminated, as it is a duplicate of VAM 6.
3) 1921P VAM 1i has been reassigned as late die state of VAM 1AE, now VAM 1AE2.

I would appreciate any help you might care to provide! Seems like the main things are:

Add photos and description change to the 1883P VAM 1G page.
Create 1921P VAM 1AE2 page and transfer VAM 1i content.
Transfer 1921P VAM 91 content to VAM 6 page.

Thanks!

Thank you, but one adjustment to suggest. I see that 21P VAM 11 (eleven) has been marked as eliminated, when it should be VAM 1i (one eye) that is now eliminated and designated 1AE2. Thanks to anyone who can correct this!

Just found a 21P VAM-1AE1 (the scribbles guide took me to VAM-1i). Did not see that the VAM-1i page had been changed to VAM-1AE2.
