Back from LVA today
Back from LVA today
3 revisions and a possible new find. However, the new find is confusing as I only sent one coin, but LVA called it 39 and 39A. See the letter at the link below.
I've sent him an email asking for clarification. Not building out the pages until I hear back. Thanks for the look....Andy

Re: Back from LVA today
Possible dual discovery?
He says it's an unlisted double date. He might be making a placeholder in case one is found withou tthe chips?

Re: Back from LVA today
So I guess I'll load them both up with the plate photos. Would the same LFCP's be used on both listings? Sorry to be stupid on this, but I haven't run into this before. I just want the pages to be accurate.

All of the basic stuff would go on the 39 page and the break would go on the 39A page
And the full coin shots you have could be used for both pages

Andy, this is called two for one. (see 1884-P VAM-26A as an example). Congrats on your new DC's.

when did you send Leroy a package? he has has mine a few months.
Re: Back from LVA today
I sent it off on 11 May. I guess a lot would depend on how swamped LVA was after he finished up the 2018 sups.vamsterdam wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 1:39 amwhen did you send Leroy a package? he has has mine a few months.
Re: Back from LVA today
Thanks to all for the congrats!
Re: Back from LVA today
Great job fellow SD’er!!! Knew you would figure it out. Add them to the SD list
Re: Back from LVA today
Congrats on the listings!
It seems like the VAM 39 would be a "provisional" listing, in that it would help to verify that examples without the die chips exist. The original 1885-O VAM 11 listing was a result from the the VAM 11A submission with the die gouge; it took submitting a DMPL example with the die gouge to show that the gouge was always in that die and that there weren't two different stages.

Re: Back from LVA today
Is there a way for us to get the photos of the known doubled dates?
Does LVA still own them or are they public access yet since many were discovered and photo'd more than 25 years ago?
Not trying to derail a discovery thread, but how do we judge this against known listings? VAM-1 and VAM-2 don't even have pics?!
This (not this coin in particular) is going to cause years of cleaning up...

Sweet two-fer. I have a few of em.. I feel wrong including them in my offical DC count, though, almost like cheating. Anyone else feel that way?

Re: Back from LVA today
I only consider it to be a double discovery if and only if an EDS example is eventually found and submitted to LVA.CascadeChris wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 4:47 amSweet two-fer. I have a few of em..
