Mother of ALL Greasers...

Post by CascadeChris » Sun Jun 09, 2019 3:26 pm

Picked up what I have affectionately nicknamed the "MOAG" (MO-AG) yesterday. Look, drool, enjoy :o

She's a PCGS ms61... v3EA "LDS"

I'm telling you... We're going to find one sans-Anna one day...

There's a blank planchet with some eagle feathers on it somewhere waiting to be seen...

Cool coin dude :)
It's coming...

Great Greaser for sure--- Keep in mind to start assembling such coins as available
All of a sudden you have a struck thru collection worth quite a premium as a group, not
to mention bragging rights and fun just looking at em all. Congrads, she's a real dandy IMHO

Yokel, I'm not sure that's even possible with how the dies are convex. The initial millisecond where the dies are about to touch the plan would expel most of any grease that was completely filling the center device throwing it to the outer periphery and beyond methinks, I could be wrong tho. @vampicker can probably do the mental exercise as to whether its possible to get a fully gonzo Anna with more advanced knowledge of the dies & striking process tho..

Thanks D, and I know you're not an error guy per se so that says a ton, especially the bold part  ... I dont really buy much for myself these days with getting this travel-buy biz off the ground and all but when I saw this girl at a good friends table on setup day, then couldn't stop thinking about her for 2 days straight, I knew I had to bite the proverbial bullet. She's gonna stay with me at least for the foreseeable future unless I get an offer that would significantly pay down my Challenger lol but if I'm ever willing/ready/able to let her go I'll be hiting you up first bro 🙊

The term here is "critical mass." If you're able to amass enough Morgan errors, the collection will take on a life of its own and draw more attention to just how rare the major errors like this are. Eventually, the coins will come and find you.

I'll bet you're glad someone talked you into buying this.

Yup. I owe you one JB, even though I was trying to get you to talk me OUT of it

I'm sure all the dinners are probably spoken for so pick a killer lunch or pub joint in Chicago since its your neck of the woods and it's on me at ANA ;)

WOW! That is sooo cool! Even more special that the reverse was intact and you were able to attribute her to 3EA ...MOAG, scribbles and a spiked olive - what more could one ask for?

What's even cooler, and something I briefly wondered about the second I saw it and noticed the rev cracks which had the high possiblity of being attributable, was that even if I was able to attribe the rev who's to say it might not have been a new obv pairing. Thankfully it's the "LDS" version tho with the wicked radial in front of chin still showing a bit to lock the obv as well 🤗

Here's one that comes close. Think yours is about the limit of obstruction grease can create on a Morgan.

That one sure does come close JR. We'll call that one the "Father"... Sure would love to find out who owns it, buy it, and *maybe* put both in a PC double slab.
