1926 S (not) Long (enough) Spike and Nub
So I found this 26-S with a mid-length single spike, but next to it is what can best be described as a nub. Perhaps it was an earlier clash spike that was polished away, leaving just the base of the spike. Anyway, I don't have the new Supplement yet and could not find a match for this, so I am vetting it here... what do you think? Is this a double clash or a single clash with a big die chip or something else?
Thanks
Ray
Thanks

For 26-S, tag @davidkclose. He's probably responsible for most of the 26-S catalog. I'd call this a single clash with something next to it that probably doesn't count for a listing. If I'm counting right, there are 72 different die pairs currently listed for 26-S, which is just under 100,000 per die pair, so I wouldn't expect there to be many more. This doesn't count the many die pairs that are too mundane to be listed as anything other than VAM 1 or VAM 3.

Thanks, John. I did not think that the nub would be enough, but since I am still new to the Darkside, I figured that I would defer to more experienced folks.

Ray,
Shoot a full reverse pic! or you can wait on David or whoever. However, from what I see don't send it.

I am in the don't send it camp, too. Just double checking myself. The coin is probably VF/XF, so if there was heavy file lines that could have evidenced a double clash, they are gone now. There may be a higher grade example out there that would either allow for attribution of a known VAM or would be worth submitting. I am going to keep looking at this for a while to see if I can figure it out.

This appears to be a strong clash, is there evidence of a double clash elsewhere on the reverse? I will look at my 1926S inventory for this one.
BTW, I am in the midst of a date study for 1926S, I have identified ~100 die marriages, of which some are probably listable. Study is ongoing.

David has been doing a die study on the 26S for sometime now at least as long as I can remember. I have my notes too. Shoot a full reverse Ray?
