2 New back from LVA

Post by jrfaust » Mon Jan 14, 2019 2:17 pm

Just got my last package back from the "Great One" Saturday. It never gets old does it! :D Sent 5 got 2 new, not my best, but very excited all the same. It's funny, the 2 new VAM's are one I sent him in previous submission  the 84 was too dark (toned) for him to validate. (so I removed the toning) The 25 was one I sent, but he didn't comment on the dot and just commented on the file lines....so I sent it back with a pic.

I have a questions on the 25 that maybe someone can splain what I need to do. :? Note that Leroy made this comment:Need confirmation of second specimen that is in the die.
Believe it or not, I have a second specimen! While the 1st one was out to Leroy, I purchased another 25 with same dot on Tiara. Question: How does the 2nd specimen get confirmed? I intent to send JR the discovery coin and the second specimen. would this be confirmation enough, or do I need to send both coins back to Leroy?

Question on the 84: Both Leroy and I removed most of the toning, does this necessarily mean it will not straight grade and get a details grade? I'll post a few pics after your comments.

Here are the new ones! Enjoy!
Your Pal, Jody :D

with breaks not listed . AH with displacement and 1 with radical break ..

Nice! Congrats on the discoveries. I've seen dots like that on Peace Dollars (not a 25P) but did not think they would be listable. Will have to revisit those. If I may ask, when did you send yours to Leroy? I am (VERY impatiently) waiting for my December package to come back.
I swear, someday I will learn how to grade Peace Dollars!

Thanks everyone! Yes Wayne, that would be awesome! Wayne or Andy, I'll try and get you full coin pics for each page soon.
Ray, I know exactly how you feel, I sent mine late Nov. So I bet yours is coming soon! Good luck!

Jody,

Congrats! I believe Leroy listed a lot of dots? I know the 26S series has some, one being the 26S 4A Top 50.

Here's the full OBV and REV for the 84 that had some of the toning removed. Was wondering if it could possibly be saved and possibly straight grade.

New pages and photos are up. Do you have LCFP of the 1925-P VAM-1AU?

He couldn't quite tell if the dot was a one-off ie a gas bubble, small lamination etc or if it is on the die which is why he wants you to send him a second one if you can find one (you did) along with the first one. You're gonna have to wait until March, however.

About whether the dipped coin will grade, that all depends on if it was overdipped or shows residue etc. Sacrificing a coin to be relegated to a details grade just so Leroy can better see diagnostics is something quite common amongst us so don't feel bad about it.

Thanks Wayne for the page setups, hey the New 1925 VAM 1AU LCFP Photo is the 1st pic in this post. I can upload it in the Gallery if you'd like? Let me know.
Chris thanks for your comments.....I think some are misunderstanding my question on the whole dot thingy. The 1925 VAM 1AU (See Pic above)is the one with the dot that Leroy designated as the New VAM 1AU. If you read his comments for this new VAM 1AU, he states:"Need confirmation of second specimen that is in the die" hope this makes sense. I know he lists dots, I own several dark side VAM's with dots on rev.....basically my question was and is, do I really need to send both coins back to LVA, or is there another way to get confirmation on the second specimen. For instance, send both coins to JR or maybe JB for confirmation. Hopefully JR or JB could chime in and give me some guidance.
Thanks again for every ones comments and as always you guys ROCK! :D

Ok, fair enough, I'll send both of them to JR (ANACS) have them slabbed and send them to Leroy with my next batch in March. Thanks again everyone for your insight and comments. :D
