My Annual ANACS Submission Return

Post by lioncutter » Mon Dec 02, 2019 8:11 pm

Though 2019 has been much tougher year to cherry pick great VAMs, I am pleased with what I have found. I took advantage of the ANACS special. I only had 5 Morgan VAM picks for the year, :( so I had to insert another 5 American coins to accomplish the ANACS 10 coin special. These non-Morgans are coins I have owned for nearly 30 years and I am for the most part pleased with the grading. Here they are:

Morgan
1888 O VAM 4 cleaned VF 35 agree with grade
1891 O VAM 1A3 XF 45 Was hoping for AU 50 but just happy it did not come back Details. Huge die break.
1880 P VAM 9 MS63 agree with grade. Very lusterous. Really like this one.
1891 O VAM 14A XF 45 agree with grade. Very cool VAM to find in the wild.
1889 O VAM 1A1 Altered VF 30 agree with grade. Didn't want to send this one in but had no other Morgans to attribute.

Buffalo nickel
1913 P cleaned AU 58 I'm not an expert grader in these Buffalos. Not sure what made it look cleaned.
1913 D MS 62 Okay. Hoping for MS 64 but what do I know about these Buffalos.

Washington Quarter
1942 P AU 58 Best looking AU 58 you will ever see. I see no wear what so ever on it.
1941 P AU 58 Ditto
1944 S MS 66 Agree with grade.

I also did cherry pick in November a 1880 O VAM 5 Prooflike AU/BU. It was totally toned throughout and using MS 70 conserving liquid, the prooflike mirrors popped out after conserving. This will have to go in next year annual ANACS submission.
I may not be the best, but I do not know anyone better.

Thanks all.
According to ANACS population report, the 1891 O VAM 1A3 XF 45 is the highest graded for that VAM. I realize there are some PCGS VAM 1A3's in PCGS holders all the way up to AU 55. I think that has to be my pick of the year.
