Re: O/T or NOT, I NEED SOME ECON 101
At the risk of maintaining an O/T thread, here's a very brief excerpt from my next book. It should help dispel the confusion -- at least a little. Common usage of the term “inflation” applies to a rapid increase in price when work/paid hours work remains static or decreases. A simple, commonly used ...

Re: WoW! You guys are really branching out!
Got my first shot today and scheduled the next one. Very quick and efficient -- 35 minutes from arrival to release (after 15 min post-jab wait).

Re: 1878-S VAM-1i Rev, Unlisted Obv Die
RE: what i mean about mints sharing dies is o/cc, o/s, 78p,s,cc /79p,s,cc and some others. US Mints did not share dies. Dies with repunched mintmarks were still used only at one mint – never at two. Not sure what is meant by “78p,s,cc /79p,s,cc.” Please clarify. is it known whether there hubs/master...

Re: 1878-S VAM-1i Rev, Unlisted Obv Die
RE: "how are these numbers affected by shared dies between mints, different years of coins and reworked dies?" These were dies used by and destroyed by the San Francisco Mint for 1878. Mints did not share dies and there are no extant records about the quantities of repaired dies. All dies cycled thr...

In 1878 The San Francisco Mint used 90 obverse and 84 reverse dies for the standard silver dollar.

I hope potential buyers will use this information to help them get the "best coin" for their money. Slab grades for Uncirculated 1921s are almost meaningless, in my opinion.

Re: June 2021 Whitman Baltimore show canceled.
The city reserved the Convention Center for possible emergency use, and they did not want to end that until people were vaccinated and the Governor ended the public emergency. Local conditions will increasingly influence planning. West Virginia has the highest vaccination rate in the country, but th...

Re: OT ICE STORM
I went though a 40 lb. bag of bird seed this week (5 days), this would normally last 2 weeks. Did you use it as a topping for snow cones, or grind it into flour for biscuits? What did you put out for the birds? I ended up with well over 100 birds as compared to the normal 2 dozenish. My back yard l...

Anyone have some original-from-1960s-bag Morgans with that cold, icy look of fresh silver? (With appropriate VAM or "Squirrel-bird" varieties, of course.)

Re: Apparent increase in 1921 Peace dollar comments in hobby media. Sample coin.
Several has asked if this is a satin proof. Nope. There are a couple of reeding marks in the eagle's neck and back feathers. These indicate normal production, not individually made medal press proofs. (Just to confuse things - some TPGs have "authenticated" proofs that are not really proofs. Much of...

The conversations from the video can be mechanically transcribed using the newest MSWord or one of several voice transcription programs. Doing that would greatly expand the ability to search for information among hours of video.

Do you have a "star" filter on the obv and rev photos? They should be a clear as your detail images.

I've been asked about the reverse. A similar detail highlighting image for the reverse has not been made because I don't think anyone checks that for depth of detail. Differences are less pronounced than on the obverse. The main points to look for are full rounded lettering and complete eagle feathe...

Re: Letter about error Morgan dollar - 1885
That crossed my mind, also. Snowden's experiments included raised lettering on the edge. He used equipment and instructions obtained from the mint in Belgium. His correspondence does not mention producing any plain edge pieces.
