Re: Die Marker Question

Die markers are important to me, and I appreciate those that list them.
Suppose I had a coin that had PMD to the date or mint mark.
Without the die markers I wouldn't have confirmed attribution to a scarce coin.

Re: USPS Shipping What a Joke

Before I make any errors of assumption, I need to know, is the USPS a branch of the government? Or is it an independent business?
That will help me determine if it should be run like the rest of the government or it should be run like a business.

Re: USPS Shipping What a Joke

There has been some discussion of closing the Post Office on Saturdays. My first reaction is that is not a good idea. My experiences is that will not save money, as much as promote inefficiencies. At a time when many people are laid off and purchasing on line, another delay isn't a positive move. An...

Re: September O/T Bullion Update

There have been no changes in why I believe precious metals are a safe haven from paper speculation.
Thus, I consider this an opportunity to double down on silver investments.
I may be wrong, I may not the guy to listen to.
But I will offer an opinion for others to consider.

Re: September O/T Bullion Update

I just built a small cottage industry around a ridiculous windfall purchase at a government auction.
Labor and shipping takes about an hour a day. I should have five years supply of materials.
Every dime of income is going to precious metals. Silver, gold and lead.

I find it difficult to keep up with all the activities on VAMWORLD, but this is worthy of my appraisal.
Thank you Roger, and congratulations.

Re: 1904-O VAM-29 and VAM-47 Reverse die marriage.

Sorry for the disconnect. My life has become a bit scrambled. In some ways for the better. I see the gouge under the "D" on the V-47 and perhaps reminants of same on V-29. To further the confusion I would ask you to look at V-21 die 1. It has many of the features of the other two, but the "we" havin...

Re: 1904-O VAM-29 and VAM-47 Reverse die marriage.

Alan, I'm have difficulty thinking clearly. Been pushing myself too hard lately. But I see the features of which you speak. The additional wrinkle is VAM-21 Die 1. The scratch/gouge below "D" is nearly worn away, and the "e" in we is filled, but I don't see the chip in "w" of we (right top). I could...

Re: O/T Outdated Sheldon Grading Scale

I believe that it is only a matter of time before someone comes up with a scale from 1 to 100. And if that scale is accompanied with a computer scanning process to assign a grade, that person will shake up the industry. Imagine the number of coins that will be resubmitted for grading. I'm not saying...

I said I wasn't going to purchase until prices dropped, but I gave in and picked up a couple that were upgrades for the reference collection. I'm weak.

Thanks for your insight. Time will tell. I would really be happy to se silver to go back into the $30 range."

My belief is that silver will ultimately rise to a fair market price. But until then, price suppression gives me more time to stock up.
