QUANDRY

I'm about to bid on an 1878 8tf MS 60 details cleaned Vam 9. I know about what the value is of a MS 60, but no idea how much to discount it for the details grade. Any last minute advice?

Re: NEED ADVICE W/ O/T

Well, we finally have a decent photo, thanks to CascadeChris. Thanks-a-million Chris for your time, expertise, and mostly, your patience. And thanks for all those looks and replies, which taught me the difference between a priceless mint error, and a malfunctioning coin-wrapping machine. I still thi...

Re: NEED ADVICE W/ O/T

NGC could not say what caused the damage, therefore, how can they say that its detail type damage and not mint error type damage. Am I being difficult?

Re: NEED ADVICE W/ O/T

Seems like nobody wants to commit on whether or not its worth a trip to the "mint error" dept. I can see the damage in the pic, but is it "detail" or "error" damage? Anyway, thanks for the views and comments, most helpful.

Thanks Again, The coin will be here in a few days. We'll get a better look and go from there. Did you look at the pics on NGC?

Re: NEED ADVICE W/ O/T

CC, Thanks for info. Is die break a possibility? That's what it looks most like, a jagged line running from coin center to near the edge at 1 oclock. NGC pics are blurry. I'll try to get some clearer ones when the coin gets here. Thanks for looking.

NEED ADVICE W/ O/T

I recently sent some uncirculated Guam W m/m quarters for grading. Out of 40 coins, 39 came back MS 64, 65, 66, or 67, and one was labeled UNC DETAILS-OBV DAMAGE. The coins were mailed back today, so all I have to go on now is the online photo posted by NGC, and it is blurry. (cert # 4423559-011) De...

Re: EXTRTMELY OFF TOPIC, BUT LET'S GO

Guys, thanks for all the great info. Turns out, I bought my W Lowell's too late to qualify for first or early releases. No wonder they were so cheap. So, I'm guessing that the W Lowells, as well as the W Mariana, are now face value, or is there any premium for the W m/m? Anyway, a little birdie told...

Re: EXTRTMELY OFF TOPIC, BUT LET'S GO

Sounds like a deal when the grading co. needs to lay there eyes and hands on the coins first. Do we know the mintage, or how many Lowell W's qualify? Seems like the high prices are jumping the gun a bit without population figures to help determine or estimate rarity. Also, it seems like every questi...

EXTRTMELY OFF TOPIC, BUT LET'S GO

I don't want to spend a lot of time on this, so here we go. What's the deal with the "2019 W Lowell National Park Quarters". Some are fetching unbelievable prices, especially the graded ones with "First W Mint Mint Quarters" and "First Releases" and "Great American Coin Hunt" or "Star Label", on the...

VAM-PIRE just might be. 1) Is it still available? 2) Could I see one reverse photo showing entire coin including the holder. 3) Can you give me a price? If interested, send info to my email jwmcarthur_8@hotmail.com

Thanks, Walt

Re: Man im over this

Hang in there man. I added the word "VAM" to my Morgan collection dictionary about five years ago. I've had one crash during that period, but no burn. Listen to what the folks are telling you, as they make up a large part of the backbone of VW. Acquiring a rare variety or a discovery coin is a rush,...

Just as I figured, all of your ideas worked. I also plugged in some rarer dates to your equations, and came up with some very interesting results. Why didn't I ask this question sooner? New members-The only dumb questions are the ones that go unasked. Thanks again guys for your professional help.
