Re: Market, but not a B,S,T Question

Interesting perspective. Since I can only do online shopping I lack the comparison to coin shops. This is a business that might emerge as an online only business when this is all over. The audience is much larger, but I guess some will need help transitioning to more of an online model.

Market, but not a B,S,T Question

Since I focus on the 1881-O almost exclusively I am wondering if people are seeing similar action in other series. It seems to me that with the 1881-O a lot of coins are suddenly coming on the market at the very high end. Not coins being sold for bargain prices, but truly high end with big price tag...

1881-O Update

I have the 1881-O monthly update up now, but will confess that the quarantine thing has had me inn a little funk. I have been off on other numismatic ventures which I explain and have given a little thought to what comes next.

Thanks to all who follow.

I don't think I have ever heard an explanation for the neck item. I always thought it looked like a feather. But it is on all of them to a greater or lesser degree, so on the die.

Re: COVID Business Failures O/T

Science is objective and empirical within the limits of our present knowledge and understanding. It is also self-correcting over time regardless whether one is Trofim Lysenko, or William Sheldon. Businesses fail at a rate of 20% per year. An epidemic might increase that to 30%. New ones will sprout...

How mean Billionaires have given out money to help.
As an update I think Bill Gates just gave a chunk, but his big deal is world health issues and this fits his goals.

Re: COVID Business Failures O/T

Hate to say it Hawk, but your gov. is playing a VERY dangerous game of chicken... I wish y'all luck. I think all the governors are in a no win deal. Stay shut and watch the problems that come from that, not just business failures but also mental health. Open and take the criticism and possible heal...

Re: A cause of off-center Morgan dollars

As always interesting on the workings of the mint. One thing that fascinates me is that they ask him to return a tap and other tools. Either tools were really expensive, transportation cheap, or it required an Act of Congress to requisition additional implements. Or I guess some combination of all t...

Re: COVID Business Failures O/T

Hopefully we are coming out of it starting this week. Here in Georgia we are opening up again and expect most businesses to reopen by the end of the month. I explained to one of our sons over the weekend that the government, federal and state, can help with medical stuff but not when to reopen. Righ...

2021 Coins

Has anyone seen an update on the possible centennial coins?

I saw something a week or so back that looked like a commemorative with both dates, which to me defeats some of the appeal.

It is interesting and I guess could have some effect on coins like the Gold Buffalo or others minted there if they don't pick the production back up later.

Finally an update for March and April

Well between the virus and relocating family, March just did not exist. I have done one update for March-April and that will let me catch up http://www.1881o.com/2020-03_04.html I believe I have all the VAMs and coins for Reverse Die n resolved except for one that may prove to be a new pairing. But ...
