Re: 1922 P VAM 1 Something... Funky Olive Branch - Does anyone recognize this?

@messydesk, I don't have the supplement and the plate photos on the page are not helpful. Does this look like VAM 40 to you? To me, the branch doesn't seem to be a match, but the plate photo doesn't show the entire branch.

Thanks

Re: Duplicate Listing: 1889-P VAM 1G and VAM 1D1?

I was wondering why this seemed familiar. 1D1 is mine from 2007. At least mine is the earlier one this time!

@ChiefRet., looks like your 1G discovery may be a duplicate. I can bring mine on Thursday; if you bring yours we can compare them to see if they are the same.

I don't see any letter clashes but it could be your lighting. Set up an indirect light source (table lamp) from the side and rotate your coin until.you get the best contrast that shows the letters. Is this the coin you posted the other day from seller pics?

Re: 1922 P VAM 1 Something... Funky Olive Branch - Does anyone recognize this?

Thanks, Jody. It does not look like VAM 40, but I can't rule it out. Olive branch doesn't match. I do having doubling of the rays below ONE, but ONE is not doubled. I may have to send this to VSS for confirmation.

In any event, it is clear that my search for a VAM 1 will continue.

Re: 100% Authentic Genuine Replica Imitation Morgan Dollar...

Ant's coin is a contemporary counterfeit. The Micro Os in certain years were accepted as real for decades and have been assigned VAM numbers. VAM collectors look for these, especially those that were in NGC, PCGS and ANACS slabs. Those carry a very significant premium.

1922 P VAM 1 Something... Funky Olive Branch - Does anyone recognize this? LFCP & other pics added at end

Some of you may be aware that I have been on a silly quest to find a 1922 P VAM 1. I have looked at coins wherever possible and could never find a VAM 1 until last week... or so I thought. Saw a nice looking 1922 P with the B1 reverse on eBay and thought that I hit paydirt. There was absolutely noth...

Noob question here: wouldn't pmd cause damage to the numbers in the date and not just sit behind it?
That is what I am trying to figure out. The sunken area around the rim does not appear to have resulted In distortion of the letters or numbers.

What causes this?

Looking to learn... Saw this on eBay. It did not sell. I have never seen this sunken rim effect, at least not to this extent. Is this the result of die fatigue?

Ant: No offense take on this end. While I do believe that you will be disappointed, I would have done the same thing as you. You have to take that shot. I've looked at this a number of times comparing it against known E clashes and it looks like it might be the real deal. Crossing my fingers for you...

My vote would be for a phantom E, but I can see why you would take the chance. Hedging your bets. I can respect it ;) [/quote] Not hedging at all, Ant. I really don't think it is an E clash. I hope for your sake that I am wrong, but I understand taking the risk. I do it all the time (usually with b...
