Re: 21-P D2 scribble

The lines to the left of the neck/hair and the swooping lines between LU and UR finally nailed it for me... 3GE.

Re: 21-P D2 scribble

This one looks so familiar. I haven't ID'd it yet but I'll keep looking.

Are there any cracks in/around the lettering or stars on either side?

Re: 1921 D1 Necklace Double Reed?

My 1921-P collection does not have a VAM 1 because I have been able to identify every D1 coin I have owned.

Just saying...

Would herritage place coins with the Vss sticker At auction?
I believe GC would take stickers off

Yes.
21 of my coins that sold last night had VSS stickers on them, and that's how Heritage listed them.

A shout-out to VSS

As VAM collectors, most of us like/want to see accurate attributions on our certified coins (if for no other reason than TPG Set Registry programs). It's a big reason why attributed coins consistently sell for more than unattributed coins. But PCGS and NGC don't attribute all VAMs and independent, p...

Re: Big Heritage VAM Auction 10/15

Congrats Dennis - Did Heritage cut you some slack (%) for the large number of coins you sent to the auction? I've been a 0% seller's fee consignor for many years, but that's the only deal I got with this auction. I suspect it's all about dollars of value, not number of coins, to get part of the 20%...

My thanks to everyone who bid in the auction, as more than half of the Morgans in it were my consignments.

Re: 1878 Vam 79 Anacs Cameo DMPL 63

Josh: There is no easy answer to your question. Market reality that is the value of any pricey Morgan varies a lot between grading companies, and usually in this order: PCGS, NGC, ANACS. The value of DMPLs in all holders often varies like mad, depending upon whether a given coin is "all there" as a ...

Welcome to VAMworld! :D

3AN3 is the toughest of the 3AN "family", so congratulations.
I only have a 3AN1.

The crack guide doesn't always show ALL of the cracks that can be found on coins, especially on later die state examples like yours.

Re: 1878 Vam 14.11 GC

– I felt that less than $6,000 was pretty much impossible. – I thought $7,000 would have been strong, but not surprising. – $8,000+ for a really nice, wholesome looking XF40 puts an exclamation point on how few 14.11s ever come up for sale, and how many people are anxious to own one. I raised the hi...

Any questions about value belong on the BST page.

This is the What's It Worth? board. This is exactly where this thread belongs.

Demand for problem VAMs in general is poor. Problem raw VAM demand is worse. My WAG is something pretty minimal, like $25-$30.

Noted... and I agree is more accurate. But unless there is a "find and replace" edit function on the VAMworld attribution pages that can be applied en masse it's going to take a while to implement.

Re: Is an 1878s Longnock VAM27A rarer than a VAM 27?

Yes in my opinion, but it's hard to know for sure (or by how much) since the die wear lines that define 27A become less and less visible as grade goes down – and it doesn't help that most L.N. coins are low grade.

If it was a hit it would have had to be a strong and very concentrated one. And if it is a hit, where did the moved metal from that part of the 8 go?

One thought kept screaming through my mind as I watched this: The days before OSHA were much, MUCH different for workers.

And another was: "Who in heaven's name thought that music was a good idea?!"
