Re: 1921-P help needed

Hey folks, it looks like we may have duplicate VAM numbers (at least according to our attribution pages).

Specifically, does anyone have an attributed VAM 86 to compare to my photos in this thread?
I think 66A and 86 are the same coin.

Re: Too LDS to identify? (1921-P)

You guys are awesome! The coin is, indeed 3FT. And it also answered a question about the photo of the crack from E to D that is on the attribution page: it is apparently only on late die state coins. I have 5 examples here on my desk... 3 with cracks and 2 without. All 5, however, have all of the sm...

Too LDS to identify? (1921-P)

One of our esteemed friends here on the board recently sent me over three dozen 1921-Ps, I suspect as a test to see how many I could identify. (31 so far.) After two rounds of inspections with a 10x loupe, I had this one in the "no chance" pile. But a couple of inspections later I was convinced I sa...

Many thanks for looking, but my coin has none of the non-scribbles markers that are shown on the attribution page for 3EN.

Mitch:
You are right about coin #3... it is 3GX. Thank you so much!

Coin #2, however, does not match with 3BB. The coin pictured above has none of the cracks, wing gouges, etc. shown on the attribution page, and I'm really not seeing enough of a match in the scribbles, either.

Until I hear otherwise from Dennis, Logan, and Tim, VAMView issues will not be posted on VAMWorld.

Re: (4) 1921-P mysteries

The other D1 coin (coin #4... spike in leg) is still a mystery.

I'm thinking the two D2s may need to go to LVA.

Nah, I'll leave up photo #1. Embarrassment is good for keeping me grounded.

Re: (4) 1921-P mysteries

OMG! The 1st and 4th photos are D1 coins.

The flip from the collector on #4 was marked D2 and I didn't question him. He's certainly been doing VAMs long enough to know! The NGC coin that is #1 is me being a dolt.

Coin #1 is, indeed, a 1Z. Thank you1

(4) 1921-P mysteries

Hi everyone. I could sure use some more eyeballs and ideas on these 4 coins. All all D2 reverses. I've been over the scribbles guide multiple times without success. (The big horizontal scratch in photo #2 is a big scratch). I have a hunch that coins #2 and #3 may be new. Embarrassed correction: coin...

Re: 1889 23A

I've heard about an AU55 coin twice now, but never been filled in about such a sale, which is why it is not in my historic archives. If someone knows the basic details -- grade, TPG vs. raw, price, month and year sold, and where (eBay, privately, etc.) -- please let me know so I can add it. I don't ...

Re: O/T LATE GENE HENRY

I got to spend part of the day with Gene in his shop, after a mutual Oregon friend vouched for me. It was hard to describe, even when I was there. Coins everywhere... in cans, bags, boxes, buckets... maybe not crazy enough for an episode of "Hoarders", but incredible to the numismatic eye. And it's ...

Looks like it might be EDS to VAM 58.
I agree!
No dot above TE, and the cracks are not as fully developed as in the full-blown 58/58A versions, but just about all of the beginnings are there.

Thank you!

1921-P help needed

Another D2 reverse. I've been through the crack and scribbles guides multiple times. There were 2-3 scribbles that made me open the attribution pages and look, but with no match. So I took photos of cracks and left wing scribbles and other possible PUPs in the hope that more eyes out there could hel...

Re: 1887-P VAM-3A.... With Eye Scratch?...

Keep in mind the enormous implications of what "every time the bag is moved" means. First, a canvas bag of 1000 Morgans weighs about 62 pounds. When they were handled, it was not done gently. They were dragged, thrown and dropped. And imagine the process of moving inventory to a Federal Reserve stor...

That's it Lee! Thanks so much.

No wonder I didn't find it... that crack from ust to AM isn't in the master crack guide (where it belongs!)
