Perhaps break it into smaller sets. I know the un-engraved B2 Reverses is quite a set in itself. JMHO
Edit to clarify I meant 78S B2s without the " worked over reverse die" by a mint employee.
Roger, Good to see you contributing here. I dont think the TPGs other than ANACS , who does all VAMs, would spend the time on a series that until just recently was relatively cheap to collect (79S-R78). But I see where you are heading and the variety has gotten expensive to collect in any MS Grade. ...
Roger, This die was used for coinage in 1879 (S). Same die used in 1878 for VAMs 1C and 95. SF had a few dies used in 79 from the 78 run. tim Reverse B2a– Lightly engraved shallow feathers between eagles right wing and leg. Slightly doubled D in Dollar at bottom. Die chip on upper right of loop of R...
Thanks Lew, I'll have to dig out my V101s and look them over. I have 8ish. Wonder If I ruled out V51 die 1 and went the lazy route. I picked up a few coins that will fill empty holes. The plate photos dont show the chips on the neck very well. The HA full coin pictures do and are super clear. . Wond...
Thanks Lewis. My second copy is falling apart. Look forward to seeing the new variety pictures on the page. I have two DCs that are die 2 or 3 coins. They are only known examples and it stings a bit. But the bigger picture is a complete catalog of varieties so others may have as much info as possible.
I've never been accused of being a critical thinker. But I am a serious collector of specific VAMs. As long as there is a catalog that I can reference its all good for me. I was just looking at a coin on line and couldnt find pictures on the page. The link brought me here. A V-51 Die 2 seems to be a...
Great pictures Lew. Hard work pays off. Surprised the pictures never made it to the page.
Do you have editing privileges, Lew ? The page could use some die 2 PUPs
Roger, SF had some very interesting guys working at that mint the first few years. I am very surprised they never tried to " improve " on the 4th star or the R in TRUST. They did about everything else to the dies. The working die is recessed and it seems it could have been worked on. No sure the rel...
In hand. lmao. I have over 40 examples of the V103 die varieties and in hand is funny as they are all buried in mason jars around the farm. Try clicking on all the links on the page. Die 3 has a full coin picture in the die 3 link. I dont know how to add it to the other four full coin pictures on th...
