Re: looks like a clash but...

Does your coin show double clashing by the wreath? I could be totally mistaken, but doesn't the counter-clash come from the first strike clash being transferred back onto the same side, and it shows up due to the second clash moving over slightly. The line beside the cap is from the cap and the line...

Re: looks like a clash but...

I have an 1891 o with similar clashing - the wreath area also shows what looks like a counter clash. I might see if i can dig it out later for a pic or two. It was sent to LVA several years back and he said it wasn't worth an additional stage listing. But it does look pretty neat and isn't on all ex...

Re: Hypothetical question

Upon arrival, the coins were definitely circulated, but still an interesting group to find 3 of the same VAM offered in a 6 coin lot lot. And they will assist me in my future studies of the date (91o)My photo doesn't really do much for them...

Hypothetical question---- photo added

If you came across a seller's listing that had several of the same VAM but not listed as a VAM in listing, would think they had collected them by random? or possibly came from a roll? Chances of having several in lightly circulated condition ending up back together? Just looking for opinions.... I p...

Not much to go on, except it's not a D mint and a few very minor die cracks.... when you get it in hand, take a look @ 1921 P VAM 3CL.

Re: Think this NEWP has a case of Ringworm

I know they are not the best to use for VAMming, but the die cracks through UNITED sure do look like a match to the smaller photos on the 22 page... misplaced photos? Also looks like they match the very light cracks @ UNI in the large full photo bottom of 22 page. Same reverse as another VAM ??

Re: Name That VAM - 1891-O edition

Right up my alley.... may I use that info / photo in my notes, or would I need to seek permission in writing ? I have a little die study that is in early stages of progress. The letter doesn't mention anything about the break between the wreath and olive branch leaves..... so I'll hold back my "gues...

Recent E-bay pick, figured it might be off center enough to call it that.

Re: OT... How are you gonna handle the next 2 weeks?

Personally, @ 63 yrs. old (today - Happy birthday to Remy and Albert Einstein too) My Mrs. and I are sticking close to home. My job is considered fairly essential (system operator for the electric co.) so our group of 6 have been pretty much sequestered to a locked down room. I assume the local Kans...
