Morgan 1921-P VAM-3HI

This is an EDS example of 1921-P VAM-3HI ("eye"). It shows the polish lines on the forehead: WIN_20200627_13_19_42_Pro.jpg It has the conspicuous horizontal die scratch in the lower tail feathers: WIN_20200627_13_20_17_Pro.jpg And it also has the crack running from OF through the eagle's left wing a...

Morgan 1921-D VAM-1AK1

Here is an example of 21-D VAM-1AK1. Scribbles match: WIN_20200626_11_11_44_Pro.jpg WIN_20200626_11_11_54_Pro.jpg But there is no gouge on the E in ONE: WIN_20200626_11_12_10_Pro.jpg And, although there is a bit of PMD above the second 1 in the date, there does not appear to be any dot above the 1. ...

Ah, I must have been looking at the wrong photo. Not enough coffee this morning.

Thanks for confirming 3FT.

Re: Is there a 21-P expert in the house?

Take a look at 3FT. It's pretty close, but probably not the right one (the crack doesn't hit the D in the right place).

Morgan 1921-P VAM-65 = VAM-87 =VAM-85

A while back VAM-65 and VAM-87 appeared to be the same. VAM-85 entered the discussion as a possible duplicate as well. I have examined four 65/87s, some with fairly strong scribbles. While I don't have a copy of VAM-85 in hand, looking at the scribbles on the VAM-85 page and comparing to the scribbl...

Morgan 1921-D VAM-1AA = VAM-1CF

Based on the scribbles, 21-D 1AA (top) appears to be the same as 1CF (bottom). The "E" gouge is missing on the 1CF.

Here is a photo of the gouge across ED of UNITED on VAM-1S2.

Can someone put this on the 1S2 page?

Re: is leroy available to play with coins yet?

Kissov: Great. You know everything there is about this situation. I yield.. No need for sarcasm. I was simply pointing out that copyright protection is not at play here. I will repeat myself: It is testimony to the discipline of the VAM community that LVA continues to be the central clearinghouse f...

Re: is leroy available to play with coins yet?

I just contacted an attorney who knows that yes, the term VAM in the dollar sense is copyrighted. From copyright.gov: Copyright law expressly excludes copyright protection for “any idea, procedure, process, system, method of operation, concept, principle, or discovery, regardless of the form in whi...

Re: is leroy available to play with coins yet?

This has been brought up repeatedly, and every time I have to restate that this is Leroy's task, and his alone until he or his heirs decide otherwise. What ownership rights are we talking about here? VAM (in the dollar sense) is not trademarked as far as I know. Of course all of the various publica...

Re: 1921-p VAM-72A 2 finger guide gouges?

I sometimes notice a hairline crack from the bottom, Second post of the "N" in "UNITED" to the outside of left wreath, on all pictures. It also helps to squint. I don't know of any 21-P D1 or D2 Reverse cracks from the N in UNITED to the wreath. Not impossible, but I've not seen that particular cra...

Re: 1921P morgan. Forgot obv and rev fotos

The dot in your photo does not appear to be in the same location as the one in 59A. WIN_20200602_11_51_25_Pro.jpg The scribbles are helpful. WIN_20200602_11_51_55_Pro.jpg And later die states have some distinctive cracks from the left wreath to the denticles between the ONE and the DOLLAR. There is ...

Did you check the "dots" list?
Ha! It is on the dot page as 1AE.

Unfortunately there is no entry on the scribbles page for 1AE or 1BW.

Given the similarity of the "chip" to the "dot", it looks like 1BW may be the same as 1AE.

Re: Morgan 1921-P VAM-101

Ken: I've been messing with one of your latest photos and have 3 reasons why this coin should be easily (sort of) attributable. They are indicated on the photo: Kissov 1-2-3.jpg 1 – Chunks of stuff in the right scribbles opening are pretty common, but are most often tiny. Two or even 3 small chunks...

I agree that this isn't a VAM 101. I also can't place it. Fascinating that you have four of them! Hope we can identify it! Here are a few more bits and pieces. One example has some faint scribbles in the area outside of the right leg. WIN_20200506_05_11_31_Pro.jpg There are a few polish lines acros...

Try 1BO. Yes indeed! And this is embarrassing... 1BO is my discovery. Only a blurry part of the line under the 9 is visible on my DC, but all the secondary markers are there. And, of course, my attribution problem started with 1BO not being in the Scribbles Guide. Thank very much for y...
