Re: HYPOTHETICAL PROOFS

Skip the details coins when you can. There are times when you can't, but this is not one of them.

I love it when Alan gets curmudgeonly. You invented the term "die poop" if I recall correctly?

Re: Another 1900-O duplicate (imo)

Thanks, I chose the 1900-O series to work on because my uncle gave me a 1900 O/CC dollar when I was 8 years old and I still have it. But the series is far from complete. There are other duplicate listings. I was able to unwind the VAM 14 VAM 14A VAM 35 VAM 35A VAM 41 VAM 41A mixups a few years ago a...

Re: Is 1900-O v44 really v2A?

The VAM 44 listing was a twofer from a submittal of the VAM44A by Logan McKechnie in 2004. At that time there was no VAM 2A2 listing, just the 2A which was listed way back when by Leroy himself, hence the low VAM number. So Leroy listed both the VAM 44 and the VAM 44A at the same time. In past years...

Re: Another 1900-O duplicate (imo)

The VAM 40 has a very high O, higher than all other 1900 O coins if you look closely enough. The vertical ear gouges as described appear on no other 21 family coins. The VAM 40 also has an exactly perfect near date placement over the second and third denticle gap and the date itself is placed high w...

Re: Another 1900-O duplicate (imo)

The 1900 O VAM 40 is not a VAM 21, but some VAM 21's have similar reverses. However, the listed VAM 40A is a relisting of the VAM 21B.

Here is what the constitution says: "No state shall, without the consent of the Congress, lay any imposts or duties on imports or exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection laws: and the net produce of all duties and imposts, laid by any state on imports or export...

Apparently, editing pages now is done when permission is granted, so having instructions for anyone to edit their own member info is a moot point.

Re: 1900-O Morgan with THIS crack ... O/CC?

All VAM 11 1900 O/CC obverses have a distinct diagonal die gouge from the left wheat stalk below 'I' in Pluribus to the right bottom of 'I' in Pluribus. The coin pictured is a VAM 33, whose obverse does not. All VAM 33 have a doubled 1 on the lower serif.

That code was written for the old VAMWORLD Wiki and probably isn't valid anymore.

Re: 1900-O Morgan, lots of die cracks, hard to find a matching VAM.

Try VAM 55. For years, this coin was pictured as a VAM 2 on VAMWORLD. But then MItch Hill sent one in and got this designation. The diecracks vary from coin to coin, but the high date crack is always the give away.

Re: 1900-O VAM 53 ?

I dont think this is a VAM 53, the O is too high.

Usually, I'd call these near slanted dates with a high O a VAM 23, which have multiple die pairs.

But I've not seen one with the die gouges in and below the ear like your coin has, so I agree with tmanhg, it may be worth a trip.

Re: New 1900-O & O/CC - 4/4?

Wow, Brady, you must live close to where all undiscovered 1900-O's live. Great find with the VAM 38D. I'm sure its very rare as all "G" clashes are hunted and this one could not have been overlooked before now if it existed in any quantity. The VAM 11A listing is another nice find with which must be...

Re: 1900-O VAM-29A ??

This is a nice pick of a top 100 coin in a high grade not usually seen in the wild. The easy way to attribute is that the neck points to the denticle where the VAM-29A die break originates. On the VAM-35, its further left.

Now, find a VAM-29 in any grade. That's the hard one.
