Re: 1886 VAM 20 REPUNCHED DATE

I was an underbidder at $30 so I could see where it finished. I also didn't like its overall "look".

The relisted version has an opening bid requirement of $950, yet the description says, "BIDDING STARTING AT .99"

Re: Is your 1889-P VAM 22 clashed?

I had to go back and investigate the long line on the chin after oldcollector called it a scribble.
He was right! And the long one has several friends closer to the end of Liberty's chin.
I totally approve of this new feature!

Re: 1922 Morgan Peace VAM

Acetone has no effect on silver and is widely, commonly used. A coin can soak in it for weeks or months. It dissolves petroleum-based residues. Just be sure to use a sealed container and avoid breathing the fumes.

Sure it is not a misattributed 19A?

Yes. I double-checked before posting... no crack at the date and 3 full denticles of space between the point of the neck and the first 1 in the date.

Re: Morgan 1921 D1 Reverse Right Ribbon

I found a bunch more; to the point that it became rare when a D1 right ribbon did not have that mark. But for D1 VAMs whose names begin with numbers bigger than 1, the frequency became uncommon. Here's what I found: 1AA 1AC1 1AC2 1AE 1AE2 1AJ 1AM 1AN 1AR 1B1 1BD 1BE 1BL 1BP 1i (eye) 1L 1M1-2-3-4 41 ...

Re: Morgan 1921 D1 Reverse Right Ribbon

There is another line, found at the lower right side of the last "T" in TRUST, that appears to be of a similar origin. This line shows up as a marker in a couple of D1 pages, but I find it on most all D1 reverses. Yes, that is a common thing on D1s. I'll print out your ribbon list, compare with my ...

Is your 1889-P VAM 22 clashed? (new photo added)

There isn't much remaining evidence, but mine is:

This is really interesting, and thanks so much for posting!
Were there any D1s you didn't have to be able to look at? I might have some of them.

Re: FINALLY, the elusive 78-P V123

The opposite happened to me once. Was going through a dealers stock once and he said "just make sure you keep them in order, I'm really particular that way!"... I was in the 1878-S section and came across a REALLY NICE long nock! ...It wasn't until I went through the "want" pile at the end that I n...

Any obvious signs of cleaning or other issues that could prevent it from getting into a straight-grade holder?

Re: Who else is growing a Quarantine Beard?...

Guess who the Mystery VAMmer is:

1. A roadie for ZZ Top.
2. An on-the-run rabbi.
3. An Ernest Hemingway cosplayer.
4. An extra from "Deliverance".
5. "Sonoma" set owner Tim Cannard.

19B is the earlier stage You can see the polished down double clash on a 19A

Ah... another listing sequence where the A version isn't first.
That explains it. Thanks again.
