Morgan Reverse Die Chips

Thank you alefzero for setting this set on SSDC Registry. The set is focusing on the die break/chip on the reverse die, specifically the center devices; so not for the letters/legend around the perimeter. It is quite interesting to see that most of them are from SF mint. Furthermore, the die break/c...

1886-O VAM-11A - 2+1 or 2+2 ?

Is a 2+1 consider as VAM-11A by grading company (PCGS, NGC, ANACS)? Or it must have 2+2 clashes to be 11A?

Re: 1879-S Die Chip Wing Tip... completed finally

I am totally flummoxed - how can this be - an entire set that has completely missed my radar! I do not have a example of ANY of them. CONGRATULATIONS! Nice job on a sweet little set. I have got to keep my eye out for these little treasures! Another 1879-S little set that is equally or may even rare...

Re: 1879-S Die Chip Wing Tip... completed finally

Thanks everyone. It is definitely a challenging set to complete, and especially in mint state. In my roughly 8 years of looking, I can say that v100, 101 and 102 are the toughest. Never seen another v100 or v101 besides of what I have in hand. Only seen another v102, but it was a detailed raw xf-ish.

Re: 1882-CC VAM-3x... Why Unlisted?... And Out of Sequence?...

Per polishing: if the cap clash were removed because of polishing, the wing clash on the reverse would have been also, along with the matching lip clashes. You would think so, but not necessarily true back then :D . The mint worker sometime only polished out certain area and not the entire die; pro...

Re: 1882-CC VAM-3x... Why Unlisted?... And Out of Sequence?...

Was wondering why the weird 'tweener stage of 3A-B never got listed? It has an N, and is definitely a separate stage. Why did it never get any love? I have inverted the color on your photo to enhance possibility of that clashed 'n' that you are seeing. WRDgogBx.jpg I can't see the clashed 'n' on yo...

Re: 1901-O VAM-25 Slanted Date, Polishing Lines Bands Wings

"Sorry for posting photos that nobody desires." ??? I don't get what you meant nor that I care. The coin photo you posted here, does not look to be VAM-25 to me. First of all, the date position is different than VAM-25A. I don't think VAM-25 is listed by die classification since the Reverse descript...
