So Ash saw this coin in-hand and said he thought it could be an unlisted VAM?

Jack, just a little advice but we typically only stick to coins here with the occasional non-coin related O/T posts but the O/T posts tend to be benign or funny or personal in nature. Getting into politics or stuff that can venture into politics like the Fed is frowned upon and almost always leads t...

Re: 1886 P vam...

You'll get to know this VAM very well. Its one of those vLDS ones that looks so oddly different in a cool way that it pops out at you flipping through stock and its just about the most commonly seen 86p out there too. The easy confirmation lock aside the vLDS surfaces is the wing to N 'railroad trac...

If anyone was planning on signing up for the Morgan dollar class Michael Fey and I are doing next week, the class is now full, with 500 participants. If you did sign up, I hope you'll be able to learn something from this new format for us. Condensing 22 hours into 2 means no time to go into great d...

@messydesk, wanna maybe put something along the lines of "Possible empty nest same die pair as VAM 4 listing" on the v36 page?
Something like what I did an hour before you replied here? ;)

Maybe no forearm notch, but you do warrant a laughing skull. In a practical sense, I'm betting this is stuck in the zombie hole for now. Sweet! And thanks for the guidance in highlighting this issue JR. Monday's aren't typically this productive  messydesk , wanna maybe put something along the ...

Re: 1884-o Pics 4 Page.... Full, No-Plate Zombie

Yeah, the listings in the 4th edition have identical nomenclature with no explanation of how they were supposed to be different. Even the revised description sounds pretty much the same. Betting VAM 36 seems like it's a zombie because it really is just laying there dead and empty, just waiting to e...

Re: 1884-o Pics 4 Page.... Full, No-Plate Zombie

VAM 4 makes sense. I'm away from my VAM book at the moment, but one thing that struck me odd was the III2 19 designation for the VAM 4 obverse die, where I expected it to be III2 3, like VAMs 11 and 36. If VAM4 is III2 3 in the book, then it seems odd that VAM 36 was ever listed at all with nothing...

Re: 1884-o Pics 4 Page.... Full, No-Plate Zombie

Are you sure this isn't a VAM 4? Overlapping reeding? Damn, I've been crushed! Kinda feels good actually. Its been a while  So, now I ask, did i get the mint mark matching incorrect or does the v4 & v36 share the same rev? Or, could the v36 actually be a v4? Fogie doesn't have a 36 which tells...

1884-o Pics 4 Page.... Full, No-Plate Zombie

Hey guys, so it looks like I have a v36 here going by the text description which is a full Zombie without a single plate even. Appears to be spot on. If vampicker or messydesk can confirm will you make the page purdy PacificWR thanks! There's a ton more going on than the listing suggests. From the p...
