Re: 1883-o - Bevelled Tail Feathers ?

See 1921 P VAM 26A-29A-68A for beveled field photo examples. A beveled field appears as an elevated, sloping, shiny, polished area. This area has been polished on the die in an effort to remove damage usually from feeder finger gouges! The device mentioned is only for location reference. The tail feat...

Re: 1890 Morgan broken letters

I don’t where the O came from. The reverse seems unlikely. It appears to be the O is beneath the letter I, like it is pressed between the blank and the die. There is no "O" beneath the letter "I". What you see is merely a shallow strike-thru debris adjacent to the letter "I". There are no broken le...

Re: Overlapping reeds?

My 1884 O VAM 21A shows definitive overlapping reeding. The width of the reeding is narrow, often double stacked in succession in four to seven repetitive runs. Take a look at the page photos for the 1884 O VAM 21A for an illustration. I cannot see overlapped reeding on your photos. Hope this helps ...

Re: 1878 VAM 70A - new stage listing

I looked at the VAM 70 page and we seem to have a couple of examples up that aren't as cracked as this. If this is the EDS, then they all qualify as 70A. Am I wrong? I just wanted to clarify that Leroy listed 70A as "fairly EDS" B 1a reverse. Morgan dollars with DMPL or PL surfaces are generally co...

I have the coin on my desk today. The LDS of VAM 70 got listed as 70A. The discovery piece is marginally PL.

We could use a new page set up.
This listing 70A is called EDS by LVA. Vampicker says LDS. Which is it ?

Re: Do you suffer from VAM Hypocorism?

August 12 2018 submission to LVA resulted in a new nicknamed 1923 D VAM 1B2 "Peg Leg".
Leroy's comment "Spectacular chip on obverse". Now holdered in ANACS slab with "Peg Leg" label
thanks to JR. This is the most recent VAM hypocorism that I know of.

Re: How do people NOT notice?

It was an eBay Buy It Now/Make Offer. Rather than pay way-overpriced BIN (at least according to what the seller thought he was selling), I made an offer. Seller countered. I accepted. Still overpriced, but better. Plus it added another layer of hilarity to this experience. But seriously, – How coul...

Vam 44 and Vam 2A look very similar to me. As you know, Leroy is the final solution! Sending in
comparison pieces always seems to expedite a resolution. Good Luck!! DUPLICATE VAMS NEED to be
