Re: ANACS GRADES 10-4-21 GOOD BUDDY1

1901-S VAM-10 is a good sleeper VAM.

Specialists for 1879-S might like to find out what VAM that 79-S with the PL obv is.

Re: OT - Finished a Short but Challenging Set

Do you have a guide ready? No. It will take very little time, a couple days unless I want to make it fancy. I was pushing myself 100% to get as much of the Trade dollar book draft together going to the show date. They will both be done prior to FUN. I got that rare Lafayette crossed at the show for...

Re: OT - Finished a Short but Challenging Set

The LaFayette Dollar die variety set is a fun one. There are only 5 varieties .... As for the rarities, I will have a variety guide ready by Long Beach but can roughly review them. After inspecting thousands of these, the relative percentage are pretty well known. Do you have a guide ready? No. It ...

Re: Grey sheet Vam Price guide

There is no association between the Coin Dealer Newsletter and the SSDC. The expectation is that similar sales and considerations will likely be used in determining current values, but they will probably vary like among any group of price guides. I have not seen the subset of VAMs the greysheet is o...

I'd like to get a copy when it's done!!!
A couple samples from the rough draft. It is very VAM-ish. I will add subscripts to the dies to indicate the hubs used too.

Long Beach Roll Call

Late posting it, but.... who's going to attend the Long Beach show this week (Thu-Sat)? I am guessing some old regulars will be there for sure, needing that coin fix, with the show being down for 19 months now. I will be at Table 628 (Select Rarities). Stop and say, "Hi," and schmooze about coins. B...

The price guide is still being completed and is not in public view yet. It is coming along. It will be at the SSDC Registry.

OT - Dan Carr Set Almost Done

Among the esoteric sets I have been assembling is a complete set of Dan Carr products where they are overstrikes on large format US dollar coins or employ the design elements of them. I am down to missing only a handful out of over 100 different ones. Here is the latest ANACS grading. Very happy abo...

Overgraded and VAM-12A is a vastly overrated variety.

Re: SSDC set registry question- Rotated dies

Re-enabled the set. Looks like a couple are fully imaged and one is only missing one image. Two others should have images to compete as public sets. The archiving of retired sets will be on hold for a bit as I am just too busy to work that. If I get some clear skies one day, I'll get that in. Otherw...

Re: SSDC set registry question- Rotated dies

Someone disabled it. I believe it was because we really have no way to make it work honestly. The VAMs in the set only come sometimes significantly rotated but anyone could populate it with the VAMs listed regardless, making it unfair for those with genuinely rotated dies. I suppose we could insist ...

Re: 1921-P VAM kill

What is the nature of the breaks on this particular one? Would they, on their own, merit a listing? We can see if he does add 1BN2. None are yet registered. If we do collapse them, it is very simple to move any 1BN2 to 1BN and delete 1BN2. So this can accommodate for now and we can review that next ...

For now, I will move 1BP to 1BN2 in the Registry. He did say it was the later state with breaks (which are generally listable).

That price includes the extra 2.5% buyer's fee for using a credit card. I don't think that was how the buyer paid.
If (s)he did, that represents a lot of airline miles or cash back credits.

VSS will sticker these, you know. ;)
A consideration then. Deciding if I want to try to cross the ANACS to PCGS and then send them all to CAC first. Will probably exhibit them at FUN.

OT - Finished a Short but Challenging Set

The LaFayette Dollar die variety set is a fun one. There are only 5 varieties (a 6th one noted elsewhere does not exist). They are catalogued by DuVall numbers 1A, 1B, 2C, 3D, and 4E. The 1C is the non-existent one. The 4E is, by far, the most elusive. I have seen only 5 of them: PCGS MS64, ANACS AU...
