Re: PCGS attribution screw ups

as far as TPG's and misattributions go, we are all human and any of us can make mistakes. the problem i have with it is when a TPG screws up, and either says they don't guarantee their attributions, or makes you jump through so many hoops to get them fixed, and takes forever doing it. i paid for the...

As jb says, there is no reason to expand the catalogue(unless they get someone who can do the current one right.).

Re: Unsure how to proceed

i have never seen anything like this on 1889s. from the first picture it's hard believing these are in the die. from the second picture, even though they are identical, it is hard to tell what is going on here. die scratches, gouges, and clashes don't leave dark streaks on coins. improper metal impu...

welcome to the nuthouse! read, learn and explore the site. find out what kind of vams interest you, then learn more about them. then go looking.

Re: PCGS attribution screw ups

i have gotten so irritated, calling ngc and explaining how unnecessary this all is. it is wasting my money and time, and their money and time. that have to pay postage both ways, listen to my complaints, crack them out and redo them. again, and again, and again. i have lost track of all of the coins...

Re: 1887 vam 1b pricing help please

auction prices do not always reflect value. some great coins have been bought off of great collections because fewer people pay attention to GC. same goes for ebay. when people put vams up on auction, and no one is on during the auction, they sell for diddly squat. my vam 1b pcgs55 recently sold for...

even in this grade, the coin would bring 4 figures. demand is intense, supply is too low.

Re: PCGS attribution screw ups

this seems to be the norm any more. i am sending 2 1878s back that they botched: 1878s vam 60 g4 that they called vam 57, and 1878s vam62 that they called vam 60. it's pretty annoying when you know you can do the job in your sleep and you have to pay someone else to do them(because someone wants the...

Re: Onliest I found so far

nice to see people are still looking, and still finding. this is a really tough coin for several reasons. one, it is a very weak E and it takes little contact to wipe it out, and it appears to have happened later in the die life. finding one is a MAJOR accomplishment.

Re: Ohio State Show in Dublin

the show was busy! not much picking to do. sold quite a bit of stuff, and had a nice time talking with JR. my best pick was a 1900o/cc vam 7 au53, and a 1879s r78 that haven't pinned down yet. still working on it. also found an au 1935d 5c fs-502. very tough coin. i recently sold the stand alone top...
