Re: whats a 1881 o VAM 33B worth?

I'm not sure. All I can say is a little more than my AU-55.
Sorry that I can't help more.

Re: WTB 1902-O VAM-90A

Your welcome Alan. After seeing this post I figured you would appreciate this VAM more than me. It was one of my favorite DCs next to the 1900-O VAM VAM 31C which also found a new home this week. Thanks Pete! I’m really looking forward to adding the one and only (so far) 31C to my clashed G set. Yo...

Pretty cool... if the could fit it in a holder, would it say "bent"? I got one of my favorite date last year from my son for my birthday. I should look and see if I can VAM it.
Tell me that it shows an E!

No
Not at all
Vam 46 is not rare ,in fact is quite common
In circ grades up to au58

For those of us (me  ) that don't know much about 79-S rev78, what are the desirable (less common) VAMs, especially in MS?

Re: Need help with 1878 VAM

As has already been pointed out, you have an 84A. You have shown several photos that highlight features of any 84A. Those features are not listable features and are fairly well known by those that look at 1878-Ps. For those reasons, the pages are not filled up with photos of features that don’t help...

Re: 1891-CC

So been looking at it for a couple days and that explanation does not seem like it is it. In person and under 60x magnification the star dip looks to be from wear not really a "hit". Plus the amount of force needed compared to the size of the bump really does not seem to fit at there is no visible ...

Re: 78-S wing gouge

Thank you all for taking the time to help me out on this one.
If I’m understanding the comments and LVA’s letter correctly, then the captions on the photos and a few VW pages need to be corrected.
Am I correct about that?
Thanks again

Re: 78-S wing gouge

I am not a expert but have a interest in your coin. It is one of the first coins I made an attempt to understand after I joined Vanworld. Would you happen to have the LFCP's to share of this coin? Thanks for all your contributions! I didn't buy the coin on line, so I don't have LFCPs. I can take cl...

Re: 1878S VAM-31.....??????

Steve, Thanks for this post. I have two 78-Ss in as box to attribute at a later date. Your post made me realize that one of them is a VAM-31. I took to heart the tip that you received from Tim "MM location, mintmark location, and mint mark location." The mm location is a true giveaway. 29 & 31 have ...

Re: 78-S wing gouge

Thanks Clay & Lew. Due to the fact that I know little to nothing about 78-Ss, I will let you Big Hitters tell me which one (.1 or .2) I have. I thought it was a 36.2 because as I read the information on the VW page, I understood that the 63.2 had the the same obverse as 81. See the label on the phot...

78-S wing gouge

I have not had much time to look much lately. I recently found a few nice coins. I saw this wing gouge and didn't know what it was. I had not seen this one before, so I took it home with me. With very limited information, Clay pointed me in the direction I should go. Thanks Clay. :) I'm thinking tha...

Re: pixs for 1888-O VAM 16 page

I posted about a VAM-16 attributed by LVA some time ago. I don’t remember if it was on the old VW, or this one. It had proof like fields covered by some patina. To me the major obverse pick up was the polished down lower jaw and the jaw neck junction. I recognized this as a VAM-16 right away because...
